Absolutely fascinating insight into Afghanistan in the late 70s and 80s. Written by the Pakistani brigadier who ran the military intelligence bureau charged with the supply and coordination of the Mujahideen resistance to Soviet occupation. Also recommend reading Hopkirk's the Great Game if you're interested in this part of the world or espionage/military history.

Apologies if this has been dealt with earlier in the thread, but how is this being shown? Is it on the old youtubes or is it another pay thing I need to sort out?
-
They're painful those when someone steps on your toe. Oh do fvck off Smith. Let's call it what it is, pathetic play acting that's a stain on the modern game.

We've already been relegated and Ruskin is still GLC'ing the sh1t out of the place in his training onesie. Nothing will change.

Cooper said what he actually thought after the friendly. A pre-match press conference is a structured, club led and probably partially rehearsed affair. It's unrealistic to think Cooper is going to come out swinging in that sort of environment, nor is it particularly appropriate or professional before the first game of the season. There are many, many things to be annoyed about at the moment but I'm not convinced this is one of them.

Tottenham (H) - Mon 19 Aug 8pm - Pre-Match Thread

I thought Golding looked really good in his friendly cameo. Okay it was a few minutes. But I'd genuinely prefer him at least on the bench over Soumare who clearly can't wait to be gone. -
Not so bothered by Cooper really, but Rudkin wearing that sh1t is horrific. He's supposed to be a projection of a professional football club and our DoF whereas he actually looks like that uncle at the family BBQ who every one thinks is a massive cvnt.

No strikers but Thomas is fit. Thank fvck, I can rest easy.

The most impressive thing about this thread is the sheer variety of different descriptors @Pliskin has for w@nking or spaffing.

Yet we go and spunk more on a defender we don't need?

The Lens fans look more coordinated than our fvcking team.

Well, I for one am cautiously optimistic for the coming season.

Reduce that to £6m and you've got a deal. What do you say?

We have. Not a chance we spend money on a defender but then don't splash the cash on an an area of the pitch we are desperately short of. We just couldn't be that foolish. Please Rudders I beg of ye. -
Over his last three seasons wih the club Palace win % with Zaha playing 33%. Without Zaha playing 16.7%. He can be a difference maker.

This thread needs to be given a tier. Urgently.

You're forgetting this will free up Ndidi to play further forward where he will get 10 goals and 15 assists minimum. Joking aside if one of Winks or Ndidi get injured or need a rest I'm not sure I like the idea of Soumare or Hamza playing regularly.

Stumbled upon this south Indian place in Taunton called Tumeric Kitchen. It was superb, look at the size of my dosa!

Cricket (None Leicestershire County Cricket Club)

I've always really enjoyed the one day format. It's a full day's cricket/boozing but there is a result on the day. I'm never going to be able to go to 4 or 5 days cricket. Very good crowd, despite most of the first team being away for the p1ss poor Hundred. They'd had a beer and cider festival thing going on over the weekend and It was a family day today. Loads of kids in, the future of the sport. That said, the place is cricketing mad, the taxi driver on the way in was massively into his cricket and he was saying they've got one of the biggest membership bases in the country. Anyway, highly recommend it for a weekend. Two decent boozers near the ground as well. -

Superb day out at Taunton, a ground that balances that friendly County feel but with excellent facilities. Plenty of independent and local food places and local beers and ciders available. A nice change from the usual kegged filth. Plenty in as well. Good game, shame the sheep shaggers won but fair play to 'em was an impressive comeback.
