So many aimless long balls. This is absolutely disgusting football so far.

2-2 Palace, A Post Match Thread

I give credit to Cooper for the way we set up. I don't mind it, I'd prefer Fats to start with Ayew coming on later but overall against Palace the set up worked pretty well initally. I'd also prefer Ricardo over Justin but, again, I can sort of see why he's using Justin. I liked the energy and commitment and we played so okay stuff at times. However, football is played over 90 odd minutes and, unfortunately, setting us up to get a two nil lead is pretty pointless if you then can't manage a game. The first Palace goal was unfortunate but the minute we went ultra defensive I said to the old dear, we ain't winning this - 100% we concede and, of course, we did. And I'm just a bloke on the sofa with a few tinnies. It's just so obvious, you see it time and time again. You offer no threat you face wave after wave of attack and more times than not concede. It's Cooper's job to manage the situation and make the right calls. Changing shape and bringing on an aging defender was a terrible call. Replacing Ndidi with Hamza and not Facundo was also not a good call. This was obvious to me and I'm sure many others. We were left with no outlet centrally and were pushed further and further back. The simple fact is it didn't work and we did concede. So Cooper has failed, at least partially, in his job. Palace were crap, let's not sugar coat it. Cooper was not out-managed or unlucky. He made bad decisions and handed the initiative to Palace for a good 30 minutes. Obviously I'm not calling for his head now because that's just borderline hysterical. However, if he cannot improve his decision making in game quickly he's got to go. I see no signs currently of him learning anything. We shall see if that changes. He needs to be braver, if he is results will come. This squad is better than I thought and our summer business overall looks to have been good. Time for Cooper to step up. -

Thought exactly this, man has form -
The league that has supplied the most Premier League players over the last decade, Lille being one of the top sellers, is hardly a red flag.

Yeah totally with you there mate. I bought a cheap oven and it is definitely not the easiest to get perfect results. And as for detroit, forget it in my oven, just didn't work it's too small and too hot. However, once we can afford something better it'll be a piece of piss. Always worth learning the hard way.
-
I echo what others have said, I started with a wood fired or pellet fired oven but quickly moved to gas. Heats the oven faster, it's cheaper and it's cleaner. The short amount of time the pizza is in the oven means you ain't picking up flavour off the wood smoke and the ease of gas means I use it at least once a month, often more, come rain or shine. It's just not worth the hassle of wood for a 10 minute total cook of a few pizzas. I say this as someone who owns several smokers/bbqs so I like playing with fire, but it just felt a bit unnecessary with the pizza oven.

Cheers mate. Have to say working with a lower hydration dough for the New York style made a very nice change. I know it's sacrilege but I think I prefer it to Neapolitan, bit more versatile.
-
I have made a breakfast pizza before with sausage, bacon and egg: a bit like doner pizza it was a delicious abomination.
-
48 hour cold ferment Sourdough in the New York style, Pepperoni and the classic 99 cent cheese slice. Gotta make a herby garlic oil to douse on the crust. Cheese = not so classic mix of mozarella, Gouda and Parmesan.

Highly recommend Goto in Exeter for food (Japanese, reasonably priced) and Amanzi in Falmouth. Exploding bakery in Exeter is great as well. Both Exeter and Falmouth are excellent overall. I've been to Stonehenge, not that long ago. Don't remember that much which isn't a ringing endorsement of either the site or my memory.

Who do you want for next season in the PL

Signed for Union Berlin. -
@Parafox called it well that favourite albums can shift with mood, life and everything and anything else. I'd say these are five of the albums I always find myself drawn back to. Kate Bush - the kick inside Dick Gaughan - handful of earth Nas - Ilmatic Sam Lee - the fade in time Jeff Buckley - Grace Smiths the Queen is dead would be up there as well.

@Ric Flair I agree entirely about the film It. Scarred me life watching thst b@stard as a child. -
You're right, other than @Dr The Singh and myself we are a hideous fan base.

This is what is utterly confusing me. We were told exactly this about him having the self-awareness and openess to use the time away from the game to analyse and learn his mistakes. That for me is a very positive trait in any person in a leadership role. I am clinging to the hope that whilst he gets the measure of the squad, integrates new players etc he has reverted to an ultra-cautious approach almost as reflex. Now he has to learn, adapt, realise the squad we have can compete without 8 behind the ball and make the necessary changes, starting with more creativity in the middle. I didn't mind the commitment and pressing against Villa but we looked absolutely toothless with the ball. We've got some easier matches coming up on paper, time for Steve to show his mettle. However, I fear he'll use the away from home excuse to set up just as negatively against Palace. Hopefully I'm wrong.

A Also did his tracking back well. Actually could work well with him starting some games and coming on in others to make an impact. Balls to anyone who thinks he can't make the step up.
-
Young and clearly has plenty to improve on but definitely has something about him and great physical attributes. Not as bad on the ball as nutmegging himself against Tranmere suggested. Certainly shouldn't be written off after a couple of poor showings in friendlies.

Mavs giving a massive middle finger to Cooper here. -
Yeah probably true, and that's why I am not on any social media - other than here. I should say it's tempered by some really good posters and some funny ones. It's not about agreeing with everyone on everything, always good to see alternate view points, but definitely some are so deep into a hate spiral I can't really take anything they say that seriously because it's entirely without balance or ability to listen to other viewpoints.
-
Great post. Cooper has a squad capable of surviving, he can have no excuses. I think Skipp will be seen as a very decent bit of business by the end of the season.
-
Could see Soumare heading to Turkey, in fact weren't a Turkish club linked earlier in the window? With us paying part of his salary, of course.
-
Couldn't agree more. Whilst there is plenty that isn't right with the club, the negativity then pervades everything. It doesn't help that there are a few frequent posters with a clear agenda against the club who are unable to see anything positive. Screams of we aren't signing a striker before the deadline turn to howls of 'Palace reject' when we do. It's not as if there isn't plenty to moan about without having to jump all over the stuff we should try and be positive about.
