  1. There is a middle ground here. Was he sabotaging things to the point of trying to lose games. Probably not as you say. Was he trying, no, I don’t think so. It looked so clearly that he had checked out. Personally, I think he just lost the plot and checked out and was just sulking his way through.
  2. 2016 not in your living memory Murphy
  3. Whenever I have seen them, they’ve been very entertaining. We should have enough of a lead to finish ahead of them but I would imagine the gap will be closer than the current 10 points come the end.
  4. No complaints about the Fatawu decision but Thomas should have gone (the pen incident). The minute you put your studs at knee height of the opponent you should be gone. General running of the game and the yellow etc were crap. Absolutely bottled it due to the crowd which is embarrassing. It was Coventry fans not some European or South American ‘firm’
  5. Let’s not say that was due to the ref (solely). We didn’t show up. We created nothing even with 11 men, they were better throughout and deserved to win regardless. One of those days. We have the buffer, move on and bounce back. Shame to put our worst performance in against these lot but we will have the last laugh.
  6. They scored 56 and conceded 58. Reading in 3rd and Fulham in 6th conceded 64 and 57 respectively. Four further teams all in the top half conceded more than Huddersfield did. In terms of 56 goals scored, only one team in the top half (Derby in 9th with 54), scored less than Huddersfield that season. To me, sorry but that most definitely looks like Huddersfield’s negative goal different was down to not scoring goals and a poor attack whereas the defence/goals conceded were as good or better than many others. In the playoffs, they kept 2 clean sheets in 3 games and Ward saved 3 penalties across the 2 shoot outs they were involved in. So to be fair, he was one of the reason they did go up not ‘in spite of’. Look he was awful for us last season and it’s fair to call that. And yes we all want him moved on and off the books. But let’s not rewrite history about the one time in his career he was any good!
  7. Pleased for them both, particularly Stephy as by virtue of number, POTM is harder to win than MOTM. I personally think Danny Rohl at Sheff Weds should have been MOTM though. Enzo before Martin but it’s not purely about outright points won for me but impact as well. Sheff Weds were dead and buried at the time we played them at the end of November and through December, although they still lost a couple of games, have clawed their way back to 3 points from safety when they were about 15 adrift before.
  8. Exactly. It’s completely different to Spurs in 2016 where their ‘we’re coming for you’ was born from arrogance that they were entitled to the title. That won’t be the case with Southampton. They will know we are better than them, maybe not to the extent of the current points gap but definitely better.
  9. Hmm, I think some context needed on the first bit there. You’ve got a still fairly young player there who has regressed from awful management and only ever playing for a dysfunctional team that was under a manager who was losing the plot. This is based on him only coming into the first team after the first covid lockdown when the best of Brendan was behind us. What he needed this season, was to go, even on loan, to a team where he could get his confidence back, play week in week out, in his right position under a coach who would develop him. Instead he went to a Sheffield United team who are determined one of these years to beat Derby’s point record, playing a system which doesn’t suit him under a nice guy but glorified PE teacher in Heckingbottom. And then obviously the new manager comes in and has his own ideas. As has been said on this thread, awful move for him, really silly. But it just feels we haven’t learned anything more about him, his ability, his ceiling etc.
  10. I don’t mind the Fraser comments. I may be misinterpreting them but the way I see it, if they are taking the view and have the confidence and ambition of they are coming for us, the worst case for them is they probably come second which they’d take right now. If they are taking the mindset of being involved with a fight for second with Leeds and Ipswich, mentally, there’s more chance they fall short. Thats how I see it. Managers a nob though.
  11. It’s not going to resolve in one window (last summer). Balancing the loss of revenue from relegation with the cost goings from outgoing players/contracts expiring with the incomings, we did what we could. The picture will look a lot better this summer.
  12. Brentford too, they were Championship then as they were promoted that season. 2 tough championship sides away was as easy as it got though so it was a tough run!
  13. How so? I’m sure Enzo doesn’t see it that way. He knows what he wants for himself and there’s nothing wrong with that. It’s up to each player how they wish to follow their career. Add to that the talk he was treated badly by a particular clique of players you really cannot blame him for wishing to move on. Look at how other players particularly Souttar (and Daka until he became involved) have had their careers stalled by not moving. VK just wanted to play and in the position he has grown up playing in. Given how the left side has been more of a traditional full back (especially with JJ in it) and with the long term injury to Doyle, it may look a bit of a hasty decision but it’s what he wanted to do.
  14. Yeah must be league wins. I definitely remember being there for a win in the league cup in the 00’s as a kid. It was the game originally abandoned due to Clive Clarke collapsing. In the rearranged game, I think I recall us letting them walk the ball in for a 1-0 lead (they were 1-0 when the game was abandoned before) before we won 3-2 I think, maybe a Stephen Clemence goal….
  15. This. Or a Shrewsbury/Wrexham or Newport/Eastleigh as the next lowest ranked (unless I have missed any). If we can ease through the 4th round and keep going in the league, there’s a really good chance we are so close to job done in the league by round 5.
  16. Newport! Oops What are we classing as minnow? Last season whilst we were obviously still in the PL, we drew Gillingham who were not far off the foot of League 2. That’s about as minnow as you can get really when not joining until round 3. Yes you get a non league side or two that tend to have got through but they get reserved for usually a Manchester side….
  17. As I thought, thank you 👍🏻
  18. I think it’s no replays from round 5 onwards but still in 3 and 4. I think..
  19. I do think Paul will do well as someone else has said. Can see Anthony having voted for Diane and it still being a split vote between the other two and needing a third vote or whatever then happens in a tie. I did fine the exchange involving Diane and Ross amusing about the Sunday dinner comments. They must be having fun with it!
  20. Ok fair enough. The wording I picked up on in your post was very much as though you were saying it as fact. It’s not the extreme view on other posters saying he’s league 2 standard anyway! I do agree with every single point you have made in this reply though. The Sheff Utd move was a farce. What have we or him learnt about him as a player from it? Nothing. In terms of not getting loaned out as others have done, I personally think he has been absolutely shafted by this club and Rodgers and is an example of why before Enzo, this club is where careers, particularly young ones, came to die. He does need to move on and pick his move carefully. But I do think it’s hard to know his level. He’s never played in this league (which he should have had the chance to do on a loan years ago) so nobody does know. West Brom was just an example as they appear to play with traditional full backs. I think it is more about a coach who will develop him and for a club that plays a way that suits him. If he has those, I don’t think it’s particularly a case of putting a level on him. I meant if you’re playing in the Championship, whether that’s for Leicester or Rotherham, you’re playing the same teams each week!
  21. Sorry but you or nobody else on here knows this. It is just fashionable apparently to throw out statements like this as though they are fact. The actual fact is, LT has never played in the championship so nobody know what level he’d be at. Another fact is he was brought into the first team during covid and an injury crisis at a point the whole team was beginning a downwards trajectory under a failing manager. He was in and out the side and has never had the developmental loan opportunity that KDH, Barnes etc have had. I don’t think Leeds is a great option for him but what do we class as promotion chasing? West Brom in 5th? They play with an out and out left back by the look of it and Conor Townsend seems to have that position. Sorry, I’m not buying that LT doesn’t have potential to be better than Townsend!
  22. Yeah I had noticed he was playing a lot at left back which seems a waste of his skill set based on his time at Forest. Are you thinking Leeds instigated this then?
  23. Excellently put. Such ridiculous statements are either an attempt at being edgy or outright displaying the person has a lack of football awareness for me.
  24. Come on. He’s clearly much higher than League 2 level!
  25. He seems to have been playing left back a lot for them. Maybe as he’s out of position? Spurs seem to have an issue with central defenders based on them playing 4 full backs across the back recently so I can’t imagine it is so he can play for them. Might mean they do call Rodon back though! It could add weight to the theory that Leeds come in for Thomas though!
