Good words from Steve Parish about the Europa place issue https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cx2950l5y31o This is the key bit for me; "To compound the injustice, clubs that appear to have huge informal arrangements with each other are also allowed to participate and even possibly play against each other." Quite literally, Forest and Lyon have more to do with each other than when it comes to activities not in spirit with the sport than Palace and Lyon do. How can Forest and Lyon possibly be trusted not to fix an outcome? With the new league structure, if one needed a result that the other could help with, of course they’d fix the outcome! Lyon and Forest are quite literally in bed with each other!

QPR is a good move for him. I was keen myself for him to come here but he’d have been written off too quickly by our fanbase. You can see the comments throughout this thread turning noses up at a League 1 player. At QPR he will get the chance to develop and I think they will make a profit selling him towards in time.

Yeah you’d imagine 4 years left, if there’s no clauses that we could price them out. He’s far better than we are. But for now, he also seems happy.

Being reported by Sky now Everton interested in Fatawu Latest from Sky Sports News' Vinny O'Connor: Everton are interested in Leicester winger Abdul Fatawu. He is one of the options they are looking at in that position. Everton have failed with multiple bids for Southampton winger Tyler Dibling this summer. They are reluctant to meet Saints' valuation of the 19-year-old. They are asking for upwards of £45m for him. Fatawu has four years left on his contract at Leicester. The Ghana international picked up the knee injury while representing his country in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Angola in November.

And why is he ahead? What had he done before Bournemouth plucked him out and gave him first team football? I never said he is as good. He’s a year older for a start. The point was, Bournemouth have lost two young centre backs with high ceilings who now need replacing. They will probably look abroad and pluck similar bargains. However, if they were to look at young centre backs here at home, he would fit the profile they could look for. High ceiling and potential and they could get him cheap and make a large profit down the line.

Bilal El Khannouss (Stuttgart loan, official)
LCFCJohn replied to lcfc_forever's topic in Transfer Talk
Probably needs to move on and find a home somewhere. Same with Braybrooke. -
Ayew is unfashionable but it wasn’t a huge fee and it doesn’t take much to make it up. I don’t think he is a striker though, he was too deep yesterday and would be better playing a bit deeper. He has very noticeable strengths but also weaknesses but he is a decent pro even though he always looks mardy but you can’t judge by someone’s face! He’ll have at least repaid the fee by the time he moves on I think. Vestergaard was signed for too high a fee. Personally I didn’t have issues with some of the other things you have mentioned. I just don’t think he is a very good defender and definitely not the future. It’s a shame we offered him a new deal as he could have bowed out on a respectable season.

Can’t agree that this is the way forward though. Yes they might get you up but they are proven that they will not keep us up. We need to have an eye on the medium term as well. Playing these two is very short term thinking. If you are happy to go up and then come back down next season with them two at the heart again then fair enough, that’s your opinion. We will end up in a cycle until they leave on a free and need replacing and the financial problems along either yo-yoing at best continues. Look, I’m not getting in a mood about Page, Evans etc not being chucked straight in. I think Mavididi is a good option and Monga is 16 so his minutes yesterday were good. Alves is an odd one but again, is in a position where senior players are Fatawu, Bilal, Mavididi and then Monga has developed quickly for his age. But the Nelson one is the kicker as we will risk losing him if he is not made an integral part of the team soon. He only has a couple of years left, now is the time you’d be trying to tie him down but from his view, why would he? Basically, playing Faes and Vestergaard (rather than one of them with Nelson) probably gets the same end result, that’s we can get promoted. You’re not telling me Nelson is going to hold us back from that target. But longer term it sets us back as Faes and Vestergaard are still not good enough and Nelson either isn’t there yet due to being behind them or has seen his future elsewhere and left.

I think many people are happy with them as the main options based on either previous performances in the Championship, lack of trust of home grown players or both. I get what you are saying about December but you should be building up a centre back partnership straight away, not sitting on it. The only explanation would be injury but then why is he firstly on the bench and then not selected to come on? I know the answer to the latter, not trusted given the game was tight which is why it doesn’t bode well going forwards. As for last time in the Championship, we conceded 41 in 46 games. Comparatively, Leeds and Burnley conceded 30 and 16 respectively whilst getting promoted. There were games when we were beaten so easily, away at Millwall, Plymouth, Bristol City where the defence was just bypassed completely. As well as the games where we were let off by poor finishing from Championship strikers. It wasn’t just the personnel, it was that and the system but if you thought that was good that season, you are easily pleased I’ll give you that!

Yep this. Whilst I hate thinking Rodgers was right about something (as I think he down tools and could have done much better with what he had) you have to freshen things up or it goes stale. The season before relegation, we brought in a back up goalkeeper and a panic by centre back in Faes. That cost us our place as an established top flight side and now for the foreseeable future, yoyo ing is probably the best we can hope for. Now there’s time in the window for us to do some business still but as of now, eerily familiar with just a back up goalkeeper. If business in is to be limited due to finances, we risk going stale again but this time have a crop of young talents that can provide that spark. And Nelson is the most established. The amount of people sucked in by Faes and Vestergaard is amazing. They weren’t even that good last time in the Championship. We were very dodgy defensively that season for a side that got promoted. And they are a disaster in the Prem. We just need to be careful as if we let it go stale again, one slip and we miss promotion. Suddenly in the same way we went from established to yoyo in one bad season due to it becoming a closed shop, we could quickly become bogged down here like Norwich, West Brom, Stoke, Blackburn and the rest.

I’d hope 15 years but the rest of your point stands. This is the point I am making whilst getting piled on by the ‘wait and see’ crowd! I use Bournemouth as an example, once Zabarnyi moves to PSG, they’ll have made like £120mill this summer from 20 and 22 year old centre backs. That’s how they are reinvesting and maintaining their place in the top flight. Meanwhile here, let’s just wait and see and play Vestergaard and Faes in the meantime!
-
It’s literally one thing I am commenting on. Get a grip! It’s not like I’m moaning abut the 16/17 year olds needing to start. Sorry I can’t stand the idea of another season watching Vestergaard and Faes!
-
I hope they do. But I think it is more likely that a sensible club like Bournemouth see a home grown 21 year old available on the cheap, that they can turn a profit in, and take a chance on him.
-
I don’t believe that personally. i don’t think he’d be in the starting 11 regardless. I think we are falling into the trap of thinking Vestergaard and Faes are the answer again. Which won’t be helped by the fact they were the goal scorers yesterday.
-
Doubt it. It will be Vestergaard and Faes. God help us if we do go up and it’s them pair again! I just said on another thread, I can see Bournemouth before the end of the window as a good fit for Nelson. They already lost Huijsen and Zabarnyi is on the verge of PSG. They will be looking to replace them with young centre backs who will in turn make them a bit profit so this would be a great move for him.
-
The Nelson one is criminal. Already proven himself at this level and could either make a big profit or play for many years. Instead we prefer Vestergaard and Faes who have no value and will leave on frees. Nelson has until 2027 on his contract. What incentive is there to stay beyond that? Its actually made me hope Bournemouth come in for him before the end of the window having lost their centre backs. They know talent and he would excel there.
-
Feel for Nelson. Should be pushing for a loan move away again so he can be first choice as he is at the age now where he needs to be playing. If I’m his agent, I’m also advising him not to sign a new contract with us as it expires in 2027 and he will be able to be much more successful in his career by moving elsewhere. But he can’t sit and get a splinters and stagnate until then so let the lad go somewhere and play.
-
Only just seen that Palace won the Community Shield. Presumably Forest have already appealed to CAS that it in fact should be theirs?
-
Much needed win. Would have been an awkward start to the season if not. Odd performance from Ayew. Got us up the pitch well and good hold up play. But his shooting needs to be better. Gets it on target but he needs to make it harder for the GK. Just gave Charles catching practice. Quite greedy as well. Winks did well. I have been very critical and if we could make a tidy profit on the PSR I’d be happy to sell. But he does clearly offer on the pitch at this level. Good to see Fatawu back at his best.
-
A couple of questionable selections but he changed things proactively. Given how little time he has been given and not being given the chance (yet) to bring anyone in (I don’t count a 38 year old back up GK), he needs to have time to bed things in.
-
Faes have a go at the fans as he scores, t**t! Glad we are winning but two such dislikable scorers!
-
I think the changes we have made have taken the threat out of us and consolidates the point for both sides.
-
Why is he on the bench if that’s the case? Looks like he is fourth choice.
-
Why the f*** is Faes coming on! Ben Nelson, run and run fast away from this club!
-
Come on, did anyone really expect us to come out and be dominant and put them to the sword? So utterly predictable…
