The Ashes 25/26
Manley Farrington-Brown replied to The Year Of The Fox's topic in General Football and Sport
Maybe. Although did the people in charge of the last three spend the years beforehand shrugging off all criticism with "It's all about preparing for the Ashes in Australia, judge us by what happens then"? So they've kind of invited comments like Agnew's. -
Jamie Vardy - Goodbye to our GOAT
Manley Farrington-Brown replied to Craig's topic in Leicester City Forum
Not always. He certainly wasn't world class when he got here. But it didn't take long. -
Bang on. The whole Prem experience is a load of crap. And unless you get a couple of decent seasons of being in the mix for Europe (or you get the #bestseasonever and win the bloody thing) it's miles less fun than the Championship. Winning the Premier League beats winning the Championship as an experience. And relegation from the Prem isn't as awful as relegation from the Championship. But if you're in any of the positions in between, the Championship is way better.

It does, absolutely. Although it is easier to be ruthless cricketers when you're better at cricket! -
The Ashes 25/26
Manley Farrington-Brown replied to The Year Of The Fox's topic in General Football and Sport
The England team would look less silly right now if they hadn't spent the last couple of years shrugging off any setbacks as not mattering because it's all about preparing for the Ashes. -
The Ashes 25/26

It was all a bit more nuanced than that. The England team were by no means unanimous in supporting Bodyline (some of them loathed the tactic), and some Australian players took the attitude that there's no point making a fuss, we just need to get on with it. The 'diplomatic incident' wasn't something that the Australia team were in favour of at all. -
Would you want us to be relegated to L1?
Manley Farrington-Brown replied to Collymore's topic in Leicester City Forum
If you answer 'yes' to this question then you're not a Leicester fan. Plain and simple. Fans don't want their teams to get relegated. -
Yeah, but it's already an absolute disaster and there's at least a chance it might be less of one with him. It almost literally couldn't get any worse. Plus we all like him.

Apparently she's an Eagles fan. Although maybe in the same way my nan's a Leicester fan. Did they win? Yes? That's nice. No? Never mind, have some cake. -
The Ashes 25/26

Disagree. It might be, of course, but England's approach has proved it can work sometimes. Every chance it'll pay off at least once in the series, they'll rattle up 600 in about a day and a half and win comfortably. No guarantees either way. Although I'm fairly confident Crawley and Duckett won't go out to open and be 86 without loss at tea on the first day... -
The Ashes 25/26

There's a difference between aggressively taking risks (which is what Head did today) and playing stupid shots that are more than likely to get you out (which is what several English batters did today). Yeah, Head could have got out at any time, but it wouldn't have been because he did something idiotic, it would have been because a calulated risk didn't pay off. Several English wickets were just thrown away. -
What on the roads has annoyed you today?
Manley Farrington-Brown replied to Parafox's topic in General Chat
Or even stop, if they have to. That said, a lot of people could be more helpful and less oblivious of people joining from a slip road. -
Bloke tbf she does look like she could have played in midfield for Dundee Utd in 1975

Love that gallery and that painting. The bass bottle in the corner! Manet is all about the Bass.

Ok - I'm newish to the NFL, have been watching Redzone and the odd game for two or three years now. I enjoy it, but I'm miles from really understanding what goes on. Can anyone explain - in the Raiders/Jags game, am I right to think the Raiders going for the 2 point conversion in overtime was daft? -
Yes, we can go down. We can't score goals, we can't defend, and we don't have much of a midfield. Of course we can go down. Although the division is so poor that having not much of a midfield might be enough to keep us up.

The old When You're Smiling we used to sing, with the jazz hands, was great. I wish it could come back. But then I wish proper terraces could come back, and all the games being at 3pm on Saturday, and being able to rock up on the day with a couple of quid to get in, and - well, you know, if you're old. Times (and songs) change, I suppose...

I've been to a couple of London games and really enjoyed it, but perhaps that's because I'm not invested in it like I am in actual football. Started watching NFL a few years ago and still have a few teams I kinda like but haven't found 'my' team yet. Maybe it's better that way - I get all the stress and misery I need from Leicester! -
Stop! He's Italian, not Austrian!! Take a Cornetto instead!

Third? Maybe second, if you prefer this to last time we were in the Championship. Maybe fourth, if you rate the Dunkirk-style achievement of the great escape more highly. All personal choices. To be honest, it's better not to bother trying to rank things*, but to enjoy the good ones whenever they come. *but obvs 2015-16 is the best season...

For all that Cannon looks far more likely than Daka to score himself if he gets half a chance, the fact is that with Cannon up front the last few games, as a team we've barely looked like scoring at all. When Daka's there, chances appear all over the place for everyone. I'm not enough of a tactician to explain why this is, but I'm guessing it's because Daka's off the ball movement is way more effective, and/or he's better at putting others through.

One last shop window attempt with Daka? Cannon has shown his ability, we can’t shift Nacho and Vardy is around when needed…. Might be our best bet at a cash raise in the next two days? I reckon it's more that Daka's the best we have at doing what Enzo wants the player in that position to do. -
What the FA Cup means to me........

Never mind since 2000, how many clubs have won all three English trophies full stop? Can't be many, surely...?
