I listened to a podcast on the whole debacle a few years ago, and was shocked at the time, not that IT systems go wrong, but that the response to finding numerous apparent shortfalls was to blame the postmasters. How convinced do you have to before this even happens that you are being scammed to take that approach? I am sure there was a longstanding belief that they had a problem with theft, that the new system was supposed to detect it, and then so when it apparently did so they were delighted to be able to prosecute and ignored all and any evidence to the contrary. I also wonder how many hundreds more just quietly filled the gap with their own funds to avoid the scandal. Is there criminal activity? I would think so in the later cover ups, but the initial problem is if nothing else a lesson in confirmation bias.

You don't see the long-term rich caught up in these schemes, they seem to have targeted footballers and TV stars who frankly are not the sharpest financially. I have some sympathy for them.

I see they still haven't admitted anything, but it was undoubtedly a thing.

Do fans ever really like players who get their team relegated? It's bound to harm their legacy. Those who won the league and the FA cup have more status to play with.

He was a good player for us, certainly a player who is better when things are going well, probably quite hard on himself and that comes through in performances. It is ultimately much easier to look good in a team which is performing well. Although that doesn't explain why he is doing well this season

I think the point with commentary is that the idea you need to have played the game at a high level to be able to talk about it is patently crap, so the idea that a female footballer cannot talk about the mens game is by definition patently crap and comes from misogyny. F1 is an interesting point, I have a friend who trains racing drivers, and the physical demands are unbelievable. I am not saying that is the only reason why there has not been a female F1 driver, but it may be a factor just as much as in football at elite levels.

If you look at what gets into these shops there is usually a range of items from any one designer. Perhaps get some stock together so they have a choice of items to display?

If you were in a nice gift shop in St Ives or similar, you would probably Pay GBP 60-80. On a market stall, half that or a bit less, in a craft fair somewhere in the middle. You probably make the same profit in each place with others taking their cut, cost of a stand in the craft fair etc. People I know with side hustles like this do well at low-cost Christmas gifts fairs and summer markets etc. i.e. you find somewhere they are raising a few quid for the school or club, or where the market is there to bring footfall into an area to get people into cafes etc. Then the stall costs you very little and you are into break even quickly.

I am sure they would prefer it to be over much quicker with their goals met. More of a concern is escalation now they seemingly took out Hamas number 2 in Lebanon, and the US / UK etc. are getting more hawkish regarding the Houthi rebels. Iran doesn't seem to be getting the message to stay out of it very well either with its ships all over the place. This could still blow up unfortunately.
