The difference I think is that the Israeli government is democratically elected, so we don't get to say they can't be involved. That is up to the Israeli people. Hamas on the other hand while elected originally have not held free and fair elections for over a decade, so cannot be said to be democratically elected, and everyone feels free to say they cannot be a part of the future government of Gaza. I don't believe that means anyone on the world stage thinks Netanyahu is going to be in power for long after the shooting stops, or that is nutty ministers etc speak for the majority any more.

You see you were doing well then you took the logic well past any sensible conclusion. There are similarities yes, but also huge difference. dsr-burnley has it right. The Israelis are imperfect, but they would bloody love an outcome where they have security, where there are no rockets, no suicide bombers; but whatever they do, the other side never stops. Just like when we were dealing with ISIS, you cannot negotiate with a death cult. So they are left with a series of awful choices, for which the world happily judges them from the safety of no rockets, no bombers, no sworn enemy coming across the border every day for work. It is an impossible situation, and even now a huge gamble. It might not work, they might as many have said just be kicking the can down the road until a new generation of hatred grows up, but really what choice do they have?

Yes indeed you are correct, I meant to say Israel almost surrounds Gaza. You are right that Israel has it's nutters as well, and more often than not they are in power or close to it. In Gaza though the settlers were removed, yet the missile attacks never stopped. They have been launched every single day. It is not ok, and I really don't understand the logic that perpetuates it, but it still makes more sense than having no interest whatsoever in a peace which doesn't involve the other side being completely removed.

I don't think we would have won it without him, which is slightly different. I think people say that because he came in that season and then left, whereas those others who we would not have won it without stuck around a bit longer, and other than Mahrez did not go on to win it again.

You have to feel for the story these people are sold by the people traffickers. No doubt the Biby Stockholm is a disappointment. To be fair to the process, people also take their own lives working far from home and living in similar site accommodation. It can be tough I think whatever the reasons for being there.

I really don't understand the unquestioning support for any Palestinian organization if it is not somehow antisemitic. Is it a Dem / Republican thing? There are many conflicts in the world, but somehow this one seems to catch the attention of the left to the point of reasoning being left out.

True, and this could be a case for BBC news, political affairs programming, and arguably the BBC news website and global network. Doesn't really justify the rest of it, although I believe the rest of it is more self-funding due to global program sales.

By any measure the BBC is good value, but people get to choose the others. Choice is important, as is fairness. You could argue the BBC holds back other providers with its blacked force funded coverage of everything. No room for anyone else to blossom when the BBC is there and free at the point of use as it were.

When we are in the EU it was much easier and cheaper for a non-British EU citizen to do this than for say me and my wife. We had the opportunity to make this a lot fairer, and like everything else this Government have ****ed it. The sad fact is they can do this because it is easier than solving actual problem immigration via the boats and fake students etc.
