  1. Anyone got a Samsung Galaxy S25+ or a Galaxy Z Flip 6? I'm due an upgrade but am undecided between the two. The flip seems a bit of a gimmick, and I'm not sure how robust it is, but I can see the benefits of the outer screen. And, no, I won't consider something other than a Samsung!
  2. *sniggers*
  3. Oh. That doesn't sound good. In that case, I forgive you.
  4. The site's been seriously cranky for me this evening. Slow/no loading of threads and some server error messages. Intermittent, though.
  5. Luxor! That's it!
  6. Pretty sure that's a foxes flag right near the front of the audience of the Coldplay set.
  7. I've been known to lurk at times :😀
  8. She is indeed!
  9. RIP, Liam. My thoughts are with his friends and family. 🙏
  10. I still lurk occasionally.
  11. Sad news. RIP Ken.
  12. It's about 8% of our total number of pupils. (It's a primary school.) Many of our parents don't work and it's not in a typical 'keyworker' area, though. Some schools locally have up to 40% of their pupils in school which is a logistical nightmare for them while also trying to deliver remote learning.
  13. We have 3 times the number of keyworker/vulnerable children in this time, compared to the start of the first lockdown.
  14. Best one today... "I need my 4 kids to be in school during lockdown." (Me, slightly confused as I know the family well) "oh, have you managed to find a job... are you a keyworker?" "nah, but I've got a new fella... neither of us work but I'm trying for a baby and we need time without the kids to... well... y'know." I'm not often lost for words. Once I'd explained this really didn't meet the criteria she calmly told me, "Oh, guess we'll just have to shag in the shed then." #stayclassy
  15. Schools haven't been very safe for the staff that have died or been seriously ill as a result of being in them. Don't kid yourself that children haven't contracted this virus from within schools, either.
  16. You'll be a loooong way down the list, behind NHS workers, school staff, supermarket workers, bin men, nail technicians, supermodels...........
  17. Ah, but we only work from 9.00 to 3.00 and have all those long holidays, remember?!
  18. I'm sure not all schools in London are shit.
  19. I recognise the importance of keeping the economy going. I realise parents need to work and having children off school impacts on this. However, I cannot begin to fathom how having (most) primary schools reopening next week is safe in the current circumstances. Yes, I don't mind admitting I'm scared of returning to work next week... not just for myself but also for my family, the children and their families, my colleagues and the wider community. These aren't my words but I agree with most of the points below...
  20. Happy New Year to all.

Ignore 'em or, if you're feeling charitable, explain your point of view to the school. All this is a steep learning curve for everyone and they sound over-zealous. Do what you reasonably can to keep your kids' education ticking over but mostly enjoy your time with them. Use this time to teach them practical skills and allow them to find/pursue their own interests.

Sadly, lots of people don't have that option.
