It's ultimately a shame how things have worked out for him. He signed the same time Maresca took control at Leicester so I doubt he even wanted him even though he probably signed off on the signing. Did Maresca ever play a back three? Maybe once or twice, I can't remember.

He'd never been part of Lopetegui's setup and had been promised his own players that summer of 2023. Plus Lopetegui ultimately wanted to move to a back four so was probably told that Coady couldn't do that.

That's not true in our case. Bruno Lage wanted rid of him because he led the dressing room. The same happened to others in that leadership group such as Willy Boly and Romain Saiss who were also summarily shipped out. Both Coady and the fans never wanted him to leave, but he had no choice as Lage made it clear he wasn't wanted and wouldn't play.

I also enjoyed Chalomet in Wonka. He was better than expected.

He's not shit you just had no idea how to use him properly. He's no Van Dijk but he's a very solid sweeper defender and reader of the game. Trust me, every Wolves fan will be delighted to see him back. He would never have left in the first place but for that ***** Lage getting rid of him because he was too outspoken in the dressing room. He'll fit what we're trying to do with a back three more than Dawson does now. Dawson will probably fit what you're trying to do defensively too so it makes sense from a footballing perspective. Dawson's age is an issue but it could easily work out. He was probably our best defender last season.

Ryan Bennett all over again. FWIW Dawson was a great signing for us last season. But this season he's picked up a few injuries, his passing has been utterly horrendous, positioning a little suspect from set-pieces, and time is clearly catching up with him. Maybe a change of scenery can reinvigorate him but at his age he's only going one way. I'd be happy to have Coady back. We're short on leaders in the squad and he'll provide good backup to our back three. Your problem with Coady is you wasted him by never playing him in his best role. He just can't play in a two.
