We’ve got 1 squad space free - who are you signing?
Tommy G replied to Sly's topic in Leicester City Forum
I'm not saying we need him and agree on the LT comparison. I'm just shocked hes a free agent, I'm sure he could do a job in the Champ. Read that he accumulated 30 points on his licence and driven without insurance - so a complete b*llend then -

Brandon Williams is a free agent? And has been since last summer? Few years ago he was talked about being the business. -
By definition it should be really demanding is what I mean, of course there will be work shy MPs - and some wrong uns too - sorry to quote a daily mail article but the BBC can’t manage to report on it properly because there’s a few naughty words. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14375823/Labour-minister-SACKED-vile-jibe-saying-hopes-pensioners-dont-vote-party-die-election-expose-racist-sexist-messages.html

Didn't expect you to agree as you think no business should make a profit nor anyone make a decent wage and nobody pays enough tax

You are always going to find professions where people are paid less and work long hours. My point is (alongside the long hours) is that we are talking about a group of people that heavily influence the running of the country - whether its education, health, social care, the economy etc and in my opinion we would see a better quality of person if the pay was better for the comparable responsibility in the private sector. You don't have to agree, but I think there is a discussion there. Admittedly It is a gateway to better earning power post office especially if you are a minister or an ex PM - just look at the amount of money Bozza and Tony Blair have made since.

Who's seeing the Comedy?

Hmm not sure that's true. Ask a pensioner - I guess the harsh reality of that is some won't be around in 4 odd years time!

Why? Whatever side of the political spectrum you sit the job of an effective MP is long times spent away from your family, and long hours of slog. It's not clocking in at 8am, 30 mins lunch then clock off at 5pm. My point is for the hours you put in, what you get back is average - which is why we have a load of average people in politics.

I think you're right - it depends on a lot of factors, how desperate the vendors are to sell - a divorce for example means you might be able to get better value. Also how long it's been on the market for.

MPs pay going up above inflation by 2.8% to £94k p.a. Unpopular opinion but I don't think that salary is enough - you'll need to pay better than that to attract a better standard of MP - I know everyone will say most don't do it for the money, its a calling in life etc etc but it's not very well remunerated vs the demands of the job - even if you fleece the expense system and have a hot dinner at the heavily subsidised canteen.

A diet coke version of the states without the economic growth probably
-
If they are to be then it would actually be quite a popular opinion, but not on this forum. Not a reform voter either btw.

But it won't lower energy bills for 20 years nor employ ''1,000 people'' it's nonsense. It was a nice sound bite during the election but in fact is just another Westminster white elephant. I'd encourage anyone to read around what GB energy is likely to deliver and when, furthermore it will be horizons even beyond another runway at Heathrow
