What does he think he's gonna do if he's still here when the window shuts? Not play? Of course not. He'll be apologising to the manager and his teammates with his tail between his legs so he can play some football this year. He's being advised badly and acting like a child. He'll get his move if someone pays the asking price, which is how transfers have always worked. I genuinely don't know what goes through these people's heads - they can't think beyond the end of their nose. Funny that there doesn't seem to be anyone seriously in for him.

I think he’s got the hardest job of any Leicester manager in my lifetime, joint with Sir Nige when we dipped to League 1. He’s got to oversee a complete culture reset, is having experienced (but not necessarily good) sold from under him, has no signings coming in, is facing a points deduction, and is forced to play with very young and inexperienced (but with potential) academy players - some of whom never seemed like they would make the grade. He’s also got to contend with growing discontent in the fanbase and attempt to unite the players with the fans. He gets a lot of leeway from me.

what was the gist of who is in the bomb squad and why?

A couple of weeks ago I saw him chilling outside a cafe in Fulwood, near where I live in Sheffield. He looked well, and had his walking stick with him. As much as I’d love him back - I can only wish him good health and I’m sure that’s what he’s focussing on.

I feel a bit sorry for him. He’s got a mostly rotten lot to work with. I can even see why he’s picking players like Soumare. And at least he can see a mistake a change it - possibly too slowly for our tastes. Not sure what’s happened to our pressing though, which seemed evident in pre season.
