Defence is bad but there just no midfield. I forget which goal it was but literally two passes from Brentford bypassed our entire midfield.

To be honest I don't think I've seen a more apathetic performance since we were 5-0 down at half-time to Bolton under Peter Taylor. There's just nothing. No skill, no effort, no hope. I'd rather we just played some youngsters for the rest of the season and tell every single one of these players they can look for a new club. The manager should be sacked at half time. I'm afraid to say he's utterly useless.

It isn't about making excuses it is about expecting an official to enforce the rules of the game. Yes united probably would have won in extra time but it doesn't take away from the fact that that was one of the worst decisions I've seen at this level for some time. One of the clearest offsides you could ever see and it wasn't given.

Absolutely the key to the whole thing for me. That defeat completely changed the mentality of the club and installed the determination for that not to happen again resulting in promotion and history. The end started on Boxing Day 2019. We were second playing great stuff and got stuffed by Liverpool. We were never the same after that. Always played within ourselves, the expansive attacking football was basically just binned.

Another manager seriously let down by a recruitment team who are hopeless and a DOF who should have been sacked years ago. Rinse and repeat, rinse and repeat.

I think this is it really. The remit is too much for him. like you I don't think he's going anywhere fast. We need a full root and branch restructure of the club. Unfortunately we have Top who is a bit like one those absent landlords who don't appear to really know what is going on.

When the club sacked Terry Robinson this was the statement on the BBC website. Robinson was appointed in July 2013 with a remit to "provide strategic input to the club's football operations at all levels, driving the consistent implementation of the club's football philosophy". I can't believe Rudkin's remit would be essentially any different. I think the key for me is at all levels. I'd say he'd failed pretty much to do that. The consistent failure to get youth players out on decent loans is well documented on here. I'd say there is no cohesive football management within the club. There is no progressive path from youth team to first team. We've had managers of various age groups not seemingly in tune with each other. The high level of the fitness team assembled under Pearson seems to have been largely dismantled. The scouting set up appears to not function and we don't appear to be even active in various parts of the world, notably South America, where other teams have had success. He sanctioned the sale of Drinkwater (admittedly a decent sale for us) before securing his replacement in Silva which he failed to register by 14 seconds. Frankly he should have been sacked after that. The ultimate test to his success as a director of football can only lie on the pitch. Here again though we have enjoyed big successes we've failed in recent years resulting in one and probably a second relegation. This can only be judged as a failure and one which, as the person with overall responsibility for all things football at all levels, sits firmly on his desk. Unfortunately sacking him now will make little difference to this season as we've wasted two transfer windows completely unless tomorrow changes that. Highly unlikely to happen though. In his defence there have been some great times but his time at the club has run its course and he should go, if not now, at the end of the season. However, I doubt our owner has either the nous or balls to fire him.

If this is correct he's not doing his future prospects any good by staying and basically throwing in the towel which is what it looked like yesterday. A strong manager would have taken off both centre backs after 6 minutes. I can't imagine how Alex Ferguson would have reacted to that first half performance but he sure as hell wouldn't have made zero subs at half time or even before.

I'm not comparing us to Luton. But relegation does not always mean guaranteed promotion. And yes I do think the squad is poor. You are only mentioning the potential first team. This squad has zero depth. Of those you list, Ricardo and Ndidi are hardly ever fit. Who knows if Fatawu will recover and Vardy will be gone. Coady isn't good enough and who knows regarding Okoli who probably won't want to be here. Plus we may be under a transfer embargo.

It isn't about losing it is about how you lose. Lose with pride and dignity and effort and fans will back the players even if disappointed. Lose in the manner of yesterday's woeful showing and players lose the goodwill and support of the fans. Once that happens it becomes very difficult to turn it round. Those players, yesterday, gave up. There are some who frankly should never play for us again. And of course people on hear react and overreact. It what being a football fan is about. Your club runs through your veins, into your heart and is a part of your life in the way that few other sporting teams are. People boo etc because they have spent their hard earned money, probably the equivalent to a few minutes work for some of these players, to travel to a game to see their team basically not bother to try, to give up. Maybe it isn't right but it is understandable.

If we played Leeds tomorrow they would win easily. The Championship is actually very competitive and you only have to look at the other side of the coin at Luton Town to see how relegation can go. We will go down with a worse squad than the one that got promoted last season. We sold on of our best players and will need to sell our keeper to raise funds not to breach the losses allowed in the Championship. We have ageing players on stupid length contracts and from what I can see precious few youngsters able to make the step up. Yesterday shows just how far we have fallen from just a couple of years ago. We are on a sharp downwards curve in terms of quality within the squad, a manager who won't be here next season and frankly a squad that is very poor.

Yes those two really stand out. Mind you for those of us who have been going a long time the list is pretty endless. The 1-0 defeat to non-league Harlow town was pretty bad. The defeat to Newport in the FA Cup under Puel another stand out moment. Hard to think of a good performance under Mclintock. But yesterday ranks among the worst considering the supposed standard of the players and the amount they get paid to be sh1t each week.
