Fortunate to win but it is all that matters. They are a good side who have done their job and could play with freedom, at times it pinned us back but I thought in the first ten after half time we played some great stuff. Hopefully one more win needed.

Being in football's transitional era helped. The last 50 years has seen it change from the low crowd, grim, hooliganism days to the expensive, quite soulless game it is now. I would say the early 90s to around 2005 were the best days- money was coming in but ticket prices weren't astronomical, saturated coverage wasn't here and it still felt like clubs could achieve without vast resources.

The prices were generous but such a hike in one go is asking a lot. If they have such a long waiting list then worth the risk, I suppose.

Agreed. I don't follow it closely but the coverage means you hear enough about the game and it is just the same teams at the top. I can remember growing up hearing about sides like Doncaster Belles and Croydon- something different. Wasn't one of them removed to bring a big name into the league, too? As you say, this could have been the competitive league but the chance was wasted.
