Didn’t expect that, fair play.

No, same, I have a bad feeling they will make us a third division club for a while.

Yet Ferguson managed Man Utd for 26 years and won two Champions Leagues? Even if you don't think Guardiola is the greatest manager of all time he is up there. There is no doubt Ferguson and Clough are up there too, Paisley as well (who is often forgot about), Cruyff, Ancelotti... I'm sure we could all make an argument for the best. RE the charges I thought they pre date Guardiola? Don't they date back as far as Mancini?

Tbf Puel didn't have Mahrez a full season. He did well stabilising us, because we were going down under Shakespeare, but in the end we needed a manager to push us on which Rodgers did. I'd love to have seen Mahrez in Rodgers' side, especially 19/20 when Vardy scored 23. We probably get CL with Mahrez in that team.
-
Yeah. That was after losing against Chelsea and Arsenal. I just remember them losing a lot of big games. Also the season after us which probably influences me a bit. That said, Arsenal have lost a few big games this season.
-
The greatest player I've seen for us. Vardy (and Kasper) contribution to the club was bigger but Mahrez could do anything and his first touch and control was unbelievable. A player that could win us a game, or a point, out of nowhere. Hard to imagine, after everything he achieved at Man City, that he once played for us but glad I got to witness it.
-
I don't care for Man City but I like Pep and he is one of the greatest of all time. However, this is something I agree with. I think Cherki is a good flair player but so was Grealish and he seemed to have it coached out of him which is a shame.
-
Very difficult to replace Pep, I don't think anyone can do that, but I can't see them being so dominant under Maresca.

Chelsea the year after we won it. Won the league yet didn't win at Arsenal, Man Utd, Spurs (who came second) or Liverpool (and also lost at home to Liverpool). They won games 5-0/6-0 but mainly against weaker mid to lower table opposition. edit: I think Pep and Klopp spoilt us in recent seasons. Their rivalry was incredible so much that Liverpool got 97 and 92 points without winning the league. You could argue those Liverpool teams are better than any team this season, including Arsenal. If Arsenal win the league with 85 then it's the lowest points total since us (81).

If my Nan had wheels, she’d have been a bike…

Exactly my thoughts and I was going to post the same thing. We have spent lots of money on rubbish players who have contributed nothing to the club - Daka, Vestergaard, Ayew, Skipp, Faes, etc - aside from big transfer fees and big wages. There would have been more players like this had we got more money. -

No I would not swap a major trophy for finishing 5th. Trophies are added to the club's history. We all wanted to win the FA Cup and we did it. I was lucky enough to attend the FA Cup final. The only negative from that day is Wembley wasn't full. I just hope I see us make another FA Cup final and relive the day but to a greater extent.- 77 replies

Maybe to an audience that have no clue about English football, but I think people with interest and knowledge know it's more than nothing. I'm not saying we're historic like Everton or Aston Villa but we were always more than how Tanner described us, he's basically describing us like Wigan who won nothing then progressed and won something major. There are clubs that people would probably see as similar level to us yet we've won much more, Southampton as an example or Norwich. It's similar to how people pretend Man City won nothing and had no history prior to them getting bought out.
-
Yeah that pissed me off. Tanner starting with us winning nothing apparently but actually we'd already won three League Cups, multiple second tier titles and the Community Shield, played (lost) in two other League Cup finals, four FA Cup finals, runners up to the top flight and, prior to next season, only played in the third tier once. People seem to pretend we were some small club that got lucky which is annoying. We were never a club like Wigan, much bigger, and played in more cup finals than clubs such as Leeds.
-
Missed out winning the FA Cup and Community Shield in between!
-
I've never been Valley Parade so actually looking forward to this. For the past decade or so I've been wishing for them in the Cup every season but now it's a league fixture, thanks to King Power for that

More like the ref having his say!

Too emotional seeing Nige and Vardy. What they’ve done for our club is unbelievable. Words can’t describe it.
-
I thought that. “There’s your fairytale”, absolute knob.
-
I usually like smaller local games but we'll be playing some of them in the league anyway

Nathan Jones is weird but tbf he did all the work. Should have stayed and took Luton to the PL himself.

A lot of people were saying Middlesbrough were going to overtake Cov when Cov lost a couple games Why will Hull get "smashed"? They were predicted to go down this season and didn't. Sunderland limped at the end of last season but have invested well and now are okay in the Premier League. You never know what will happen in the summer so it's difficult to predict. Aside from last season, Hull have made steady progress since they were bought out.
-
Course we are. Recent top flight winners and FA Cup winners plus only played in the third tier once before so a lot of fans, like Salford, won't have been to our place. Wasn't so bad last time because Leeds were in the division with us but we will be the biggest club in the league next season.
-
Middlesbrough bottled this season considering they were top for ages. I'd prefer Hull to go up over Southampton. Be nice to see something different in the Premier League. A decade since they were last a top flight club.
-
I don't think the manager is the main problem, and never said that, debate was about Cifuentes specifically. Our club is a mess but people dismiss these terrible managers. There are badly run clubs that have been successful because of a manager (Robins at Cov is probably the best example). Cooper/Van Nistelrooy/Cifuentes all terrible managers regardless which is what my argument was. I'm fully aware the club is a mess, I think anybody is aware given we've fallen from the top tier to the third.
-
That's a good point although the first time Pearson was here he inherited players that didn't want to be here and they moved on. I think managers need to show they can be trusted to rebuild etc. Our recruitment has been shocking and people point to Rudkin as to blame for that so no manager is going to succeed then? I would also argue that this group of players are much worse in terms of attitude, from the outside looking in anyway.
