Their deduction had nothing to do with PSR; it was to do with defaulting on payments.
-
They've never played in the Premier League. Their last stint in the old First Division must be getting on for fifty years ago.
-
Exactly. It's not beyond the realms of possibility that we eventually end up down there if we go two, three or four years without promotion, but the gulf between Premier League and Championship cuts both ways; if an outstanding Championship side can drown in the Premier League, than an absolutely wretched Premier League side can ace the Championship. Sheffield United were worse than us last season and conceded 104 goals, and started this season with a two point deduction, but are still bookies favourites to go up via the play-offs and sit in third. Luton are a bit of a freak, but it's highly unlikely that any of the three relegated sides go down the gurgler like them. All three will finish above 8th.

Yep, I have! There's someone on here who shoots down any prospect of us getting one and I thought it was you. Apologies!

I don't know how people can watch the teams in the playoffs and conclude, even in our current state, that they finish above us over 46 games. Those who think we'll be down there with teams like Stoke and Oxford obviously don't watch much Championship football. The only two sides I'd currently class as definitively better than us right now are Leeds and Burnley, and even that might be debatable given how Scott Parker has struggled in the Prem before, who won't even be in it next season. Sack off Faes and Vestergaard, get Mavididi and Fatawu back on the wings and sign a decent striker and we're no lower than 5th barring a disaster or enormous points deduction- which @Vacamion will tell us all isn't on the cards anyway.

It's good that you're working together, and I appreciate you keeping us updated on what can often be quite a hostile forum. Respectfully though, I don't think that the polite and gentle approach works. You've as good as admitted it with your statement showing that the club, disgracefully, fobbed you and the fans off. I hope that you and UFS can agree a sound middle ground between polite engagement and public condemnation, but I do feel that we're at the stage of leaning more towards the latter.

Still think it'll be Sunderland.

The one thing you can't accuse Vardy of is not caring. He'll be welcome any time, hopefully at a stadium that has a statue of him outside and a stand named after him inside. Unfortunately, he's pushing 40 and he's on money that would be a millstone round his neck if we were still in the top five. With great sadness and more gratitude than you will ever know, goodbye Jamie. And all the best in your future.

Boston lose out to a 97th minute winner at Solihull today. Still 4 points clear of relegation with two to go, but could do with another win to seal safety. Gateshead at home on Saturday, which is already all-ticket, and a final game at struggling Maidenhead.

I'm all for respecting all jobs, but these are grifts that add jack to society. Content creators, 'auditors,' that dickhead who films drivers in London, the lot.

Carsley could be decent, but I worry that he has never managed a club side. Cifuentes is an interesting one.
-
I certainly wouldn't have them starting, but I could see them having some utility if we're looking for a goal with 20 to go.
-
I think it's important not to conflate 'big name' with 'decent manager.' We might be better off appointing a young manager or foreign manager who'll have KPFC fans scratching their heads because he didn't score 150 Premier League goals or manage Manchester City ten years ago. The board are going to be forced to think hard about the next appointment because Cesc Fabregas, Graham Potter or Manuel Pellegrini ain't coming. It kind of worked in 2023, because they appointed the assistant manager at Manchester City. It certainly worked when things went tits up with Sousa and Sven and they went back, a bit cap in hand, to Pearson.

The problem with someone like Soumare is that he's only succeeded in France, and most Ligue 1 clubs are too skint for his wages. Faes and Vestergaard get enough action for their nations that someone in Europe will be interested - perhaps Serie A or Bundesliga. Kristiansen was quite well-liked in Italy, so he could join one of them on the flight. BDCR and Ayew we're stuck with, I'm afraid. Too old, too well paid and no room for improvement. Stick them on the bench and run the contracts down. Same goes for Coady. Agree with you on Ndidi. I could see Sheffield United winding up with either Ndidi or Choudhury if they go up, possibly the latter. Ndidi is someone I could see somewhere like Palace. Daka and Winks are on too high wages to sell, but Winks was good at Championship level last time. Daka's pace will always be an attribute, but he has the technical ability of a bollard. Whether a manager could harness his pace and somehow salvage his confirmed remains to be seen.

I think last time that any reasonably competent manager could have gotten us promoted because we just had an embarrassing amount of talent for the division. Maresca did it with a bit of style and panache, but pretty much any of the managers around us at the time would have gotten us promoted with a similar level of comfort. That doesn't mean it's impossible this time, but it does mean that the right appointment is the difference between going straight back up again and finishing outside the playoffs. We're not in that 'my nan could get them promoted' phase this time, and we need to be in good hands.

Dyche is just the kneejerk reactionary choice for those who think the players need to be punished and run into the ground. They can be 'punished' by being shipped out forthwith. The players who remain need a philosophy, a playing style for modern football and future planning. We may get promotion under Dyche playing the worst football you have ever seen, but would have the exact same problems afterwards because he's Steve Cooper with better PR.

Rosenior is a non-starter if Strasbourg make Europe. If they don't, it could be interesting with Ligue 1 in a bit of a financial mess. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6281404/2025/04/15/ligue-1-tv-rights-dazn-contract/

I can see him doing well there and an ambitious midtable club getting excited because of the style of play, thinking he's learned from his time at Southampton.
-
I hope one of you is right. Our board needs saving from itself. The problem is that they panic if they don't get their first choice - hence Potter to Cooper in about two minutes.
-
The only thing that saves us from Martin is if a CFG club want him.
-
After Dortmund and Leipzig, you'd think he would walk into a decent Bundesliga job. HassenhΓΌttl is apparently on the brink at Wolfsburg and they're a more attractive prospect than us in the Championship, you would think. I'd take him, but not sure it'd be reciprocated.
