In my lifetime, we’ve had some terrible combinations of managers. Taylor then Bassett Megson then Holloway Cooper then RVN All of them destroyed us in some way or other, but in terms of the worst, I’d give it to Taylor or Cooper. Taylor for fvcking up the O’Neill era, then Cooper for fvcking things up after Maresca got us back on track, the recruitment of both these managers was diabolical.

This is the tweet when he left Birmingham, a lot of well wishes and positivity in the comments. Getting a box-to-box midfielder was almost as crucial as a striker this summer, Jordan James is the perfect profile, fingers crossed he’s a success here.

I’m already salivating at the thought of mentioning 50 Scandinavians that we won’t sign.

Fair play to him for teleporting from Mexico.

6.5/10 Positives - Got in players in the positions we desperately needed Negatives - Faes and Winks still here. No Scandinavian signings

Patrick Bamford and Craig Dawson on frees 🥳

Welcome Jordan. I’m already looking forward to the Soumare & Skipp midfield pairing against Oxford.

Definitely looks like the type of guy who uses Alpecin Caffeine Shampoo over Head and Shoulders. -
Woyo Coulibaly (gone to Sassuolo on loan, official)

We will always have his defensive masterclass against Arsenal -
Just you wait until we sign Craig Dawson on a free transfer

The right profile of players in the right positions, but just goes to show how many of our signings are clearly agency driven.
-
Just realised both Jordan James and Aaron Ramsey are under the same agency as Cifuentes
-
Trying to get him in or someone of a similar profile will be just as important as Carranza. Hopefully we can pull this off, as he’d be absolutely ideal for the ‘8’ role that we’ve been crying out for all summer.

That £5 million loan fee is gonna come in handy for the signing of Josh Murphy -
Scored twice tonight

So when he’s finally learnt how to defend, we might end up selling him Cashing in on him would be a wise move though, but losing our two most physically imposing central midfielders would be a bit shitty. Need at least one physically imposing central midfielder if he ends up going.
-
Of course we would prefer Rak-Sakyi over Josh Murphy, but I have to say, some of the names we’re being linked with clearly have the right scouting and thought process behind them, which of course is encouraging.

Goalkeeper with the most short passes in the Championship last season… Ivor Pandur.

Yep and I very much agree, if we have ability to spend £5-10 million on some players, that kind of fee needs to go on a striker and central midfielder. With McAteer out the door though, is it a surprise that we could be after a winger who excels in the attributes that Cifuentes likes, imo no. I think Cifuentes will look at Monga as cover for both wings, he played on the right quite a few times in the youth setup. You ideally want two players in every position. To end this transfer window with Fatawu, Mavididi, Monga and maybe Murphy as our four main wing options, not bad is it.
-
I think it boils down to the type of winger Josh Murphy is compared to others. As we know, Cifuentes likes his wingers to have 1 vs 1 ability, we have three in Fatawu, Mavididi and Monga, but the rest of our options on the wing have serious question marks. Ayew and BDCR are not really 1 vs 1 type wingers. Josh Murphy averaged 4.6 successful dribbles last season, ranking him 3rd best out of Championship wingers, his numbers were slightly better than the likes of Solomon, Baah, Fellows and Doak who are also known for their 1 vs 1 ability. Fans won’t be that enamoured because of his age, and I certainly wouldn’t want Leicester City spending over £5 million on him. But the type of winger he is, I can understand why we’re interested.

I look forward to seeing him get sent off against Oxford in a few weeks time.
