The crazy thing is at this point we’d of been better off recalling him and actually using him.
-
1000%. OPA and Tanner have definitely had Anthony Herlihy on the blower this morning.
-
My highlight of January was the swathes of people in the Cannon thread saying “sell him to finance new January deals” like the powers that be were ever to be trusted to do anything of the sort.
-
Yeah, fantastic, fair play But anyone with a brain can see right through the timing of that announcement. Propaganda at its finest.

Ruud van Nistelrooy - New Manager - Official

I doubt anyone signed pre-last season would have a promotion clause in their contract. -
Ruud van Nistelrooy - New Manager - Official

In principle you’re right, but we’ve all watched this movie before and know how it ends -
Will be a premier league keeper and will be one of the best keepers in the championship next year. We miss Mads, but Jakub has done nothing wrong.
-
Ultimately no one’s saving this shit show this season. Giving it to Dyche would be short sighted, he’s not the man to rip this up and build something brand new long term.
-
Mid table. Wouldn’t have dropped over 40m on Skipp, Ayew and Okoli. Would have probably took 4 points from this week.
-
If it was Rudkin’s appointment I’d say that his position would be untenable even by Tops standards, but it was top that allegedly picked Ruud. The whole lot is rotten.
-
Don’t think they’ll sack him. I’d imagine sacking two managers in 3 months won’t look good in the old financial books.
-
Same goes for Souttar tbf. Not sure those examples from @honeybradger were the best. Tete was a loan. Like I said, business done on a shoe string, had to get 3 players for 30m, in January too, to keep us up.
-
At the end of the day Glover has had to mop up Rodgers/Congertons/Rudkins mess on an absolute shoestring. Hasn’t been excellent but the blokes hands are tied really, even more so with Cooper coming in and demanding premier league experience be signed.
-
Absolutely spot on mate. When you compare last seasons summer window wit this seasons it’s easy to see the difference in direction and influence.
-
Doyle defo. I feel like I read somewhere that Hermansen might have been a lot down to Enzo too as he’d been on Man City’s lists for keepers for a long time too? Might have imagined that, god knows.
-
Personally don’t think Enzo would have touched Okoli with a barge pole. Imagining Enzo football with Okoli on the ball is hilarious. I do think Coulibaly could be one they’ve had a look at for a while with the possibility of him coming in under Enzo yeah. Point still stands regarding agents though, Rudkin is so clearly in the pockets of some of them (Wasserman too) and adds another chef to the equation. I’d say it’s relatively easy to work out which ones are glovers (or just any member of recruitment staff worth their salt), which are managers and which have agent relationships involved once you do a bit of digging.
-
Thing is, when you’re a head of recruitment you get tarnished with the brush of every single signing made, when football clubs don’t really work like that, especially when a lot of it can be manager led as @coolhandfox points out. Or in some cases there will be agents in Rudkins ear too. There are many chefs to spoil the broth. Look at last summers business for example, it’s pretty damn clear that Ayew, Skipp and Reid were Coopers doing. There was huge murmurs that Cooper was putting his foot down and demanding for premier league experience and he spoke about them all personally. There was also word that Cooper and Okoli shared the same agent. We can sit here and add him to a scapegoat list all we like but none of us will really know what he’s responsible for. Thought he/they really did well for summer 2023 (Apart from the slight over pays for Cannon and Coady) and that actually switching to what seems to be a more manager led approach for summer 2024 seems to have ruined that good work a bit.
-
Thinking about it, surely Everton put a sell on in there when they sold him to us?
-
Yeah I’m taking that. Not confident we’ll spend it properly mind.
-
There’s your answer. Bold of you (or anyone) to assume we’d spend any Cannon money we get now wisely. We’re linked to a Parma full back who can merely run and Tyrone Mings
-
But evidence says he’s likely going to provide you minimum 10-15 goals with a run of games no? Don’t think you can undervalue that.
-
Not happy with this if we’re taking 7m from Sheff Utd for a player who could be integral next season. But don’t mind if we’re gambling on getting nigh on double that from Sunderland. I understand other peoples justifications/opinions. It’ll split opinion this one and there’s probably no right answer.
-
On a side note, Another ❌ for Alan Nixon
-
I’d take that Sunderland offer. Gamble on it. Likelihood us they’ll not get promoted and we’ll need him if we go down anyway.
-
This is so so dumb to me. We could be Vardyless and a championship team next summer and we’re letting go a proven championship goal scorer with still plenty of time and room to improve.
