I don’t know why but I feel like Puel will give Mendy a chance, a player he knows well from Nice. Who really knows with Kapustka, I think Puel will give him the pre-season because of his policy on developing youth. Atleast two CM’s need to depart though. Silva, Ndidi, Iborra, Choudhury, Mendy, King & James is just overkill.

Would love us to sign some of Shinji’s pals from Japan! They all have an engine and leave everything on the pitch. The one player id love to get though is Shoya Nakajima. He was left out of the World Cup squad sadly but is an upcoming prospect for Japan.

I love Kasper, so sad to see fans call for his head last season! Form is temporary, class is permanent. He’s right up there for keeper of the tournament. He’ll be back to his best next season.

Fabregas spot on at half time, it’s possession to defend. It’s so boring. But pundits, fans and the media believe this is the best way to play. What’s the difference between this defensive possession and playing with two banks of four on the counter? Yet the latter style gets slated as negative !

I get what you’re saying, but we will need someone to sit and shield the defence, if we’re playing with attacking full backs. Otherwise we will be countered on too easily. The best options are Ndidi or Choudhury, as Iborra is too slow covering ground and Silva/James aren’t DM’s. Come to think of it, Choudhury seems the most natural player for that role as he likes to sit deep, but I cant see both him and Ndidi starting. Also Maddison is a Number 10 i think, so its doubtful he will be considered at CM.

I thought Silva looked sharp. Passed the ball well and marshalled the midfield. I really hope Ndidi sits like Carvalho did and protects the back four. This will give Silva, our wing backs and other attackers more freedom to go forward. It’s great he runs all over the place and wins the ball back, but if we are to get the best out of Silva and our wingbacks, Ndidi needs to sit and mop up any counters.

Hope the rumours of us switching to 3 at the back are true because Pereira looks more suited to a wing back role.

The following need to go imo: Simpson or Amartey: Preferably send Amartey out on loan so he can develop. If he does well he can be Simpsons replacement next season. Benalouane Deadwood Mahrez: Best for all parties if he goes this summer imo. King, James & Mendy: All surplus to requirements tbh. However I can see one of James/Mendy sticking around and Iborra leaving if the rumours are true. Musa: Deadwood. Kapustka: Needs to go for the sake of his own career. Slimani & Ulloa: Deadwood. Slimani will never fit in here. Thats 10 players plus Hamer and Huth who have already left. It’s unrealistic we will be able to get rid of all 10 as some are on big contracts, but all of the above have nothing to offer us (bar Mahrez).

We will probably sign Roberts as part of the Mahrez deal or something for the RW spot. Given Puel’s preference in youth, I think Gray will get a chance as first choice LW, so we’ll line up with: Roberts-Maddison-Gray Vardy Our second string: Diabate-Okazaki-Albrighton Iheanacho Barnes as back up/eventual replacement for Shinji. I wouldn’t be surprised if Diabate/Albrighton work their way into the first team though because tbh the first string front four looks weak on paper, but I think that’s the most likely scenario.

How is Dier captain? He’s hardly a leader is he. Cahill and Vardy should be ahead of him in the pecking order.

Then again in our great escape season we had Wasilewski at RCB and Huth in the middle of the back 3, therefore pace isn’t everything. Sorry to say but John Stones having to cover is more to do with Maguire making individual mistakes (positioning) than the personell/set up. Hopefully Maguire can grow into the role if we’re playing 3 at the back each game. I also think Maguire will be better off now he can play at RCB, as Evans will play LCB.

All our goals have been from set pieces... not surprising really, given how slow we are in possession and the constant backwards/sideways passes!
