He’ll obviously play the role very differently, but if he can stay fit you’d hope that Praet can come in and do a good job covering Wilf.

Thought Plymouth were a bit naive in their tactics tbh. Defending on the half way line against that forward line was never going to end well. They caused us a few problems and we eventually realised longer balls were the solution. Benefitted Daka as there was space in behind there might not be in other games. Overall I thought it made for a pretty entertaining game!

I think we saw a player today who knows he’s underperforming and was trying too hard to impress. Those two chances when he should’ve passed but dribbled into nothingness weren’t great. Play on instinct and he passes, over think it and he does what he did trying to impress. Still think there’s a player in there, just needs to get his confidence back and get back to basics.

Ben Nelson signs new contract until 2027

Nice to see him come on today and nice to see another from the academy on the pitch. Not sure it’s quite a conveyor belt but we have had a steady stream of players coming through over the last decade. Hopefully it’s the first appearance of many for him 👍🏻 -
Nice little cameo really. Clearly better centrally than a left winger and took his goal well. Interesting how popular he seemed to be when he went off. I suspect his future lies away from us, but he’s come in from the cold and delivered. What more can you ask for.

Geesh, the meltdown when Albrighton comes on for Daka and Cannon stays on the bench is going to be biblical!

Great news, but he’s 20 in a few months and seriously needs to be getting pitch time here or elsewhere. Given how we’re currently set at the back I’d suggest that’s elsewhere on loan but if Souttar went in Jan he could step into his squad place. -
100% get the need for it and rationale, I’m just thinking about the practicalities of bringing in another midfielder to compete with the 5 or 6 we already have. If we could swap out Praet or Casadei for a more creative option I’d be all over it. We do have Wilf going to AFCON though so there may be a bit more room, albeit for a relatively short period.
-
See I'll be amazed if we do! Lets assume Wilf and KDH are the starters, can't see us getting a better back up option (who is happy to be second choice) than Praet, Yunus and Casadei, plus we have Alves who we hope will be getting some pitch time soon. Also Braybrooke who should be a bench option by the end of the season in the midfield position. If we went up I'd definitely be looking to upgrade but as options in the Championship they seem good enough to me. Yes, we'd carry the risk of getting a few injuries but every team in the division has that.
-
Nah, half my enjoyment this season has been wondering if Cannon will start pre-match, the anticipation of him coming off the bench during the match, and then complaining he didn’t make the pitch post match. Don’t take it away from me!
-
Not sure how KDH's brothers can give an impartial assessment of his performances!
-
Only for 5 bookings, Vesty is on 9. One more booking in the next 18 he gets a 2 game ban. (or numbers similar to this!)
-
Feel like we've got enough 8s with KDH, Wilf, Casadei, Praet, Alves (hopefully!) and I'd include Yunus in there as well. We're obviously short of a LCB with Doyle out and for me I'd like to see a younger high potential understudy for Mavididi. Similarly for Faes if we can move Souttar on and bring in a more mobile replacement. Then it's a case of moving on some GKs, replacing Souttar and finding someone willing to take on Daka. I also feel at this stage of his career that Albrighton should be getting pitch time somewhere. Can't see anyone coming in for Wilf or Nacho so may as well keep to the end of the season and try and re-sign Wilf if we go up (though I suspect he'll be off).

Funny thing is I was adamant Kel shouldn’t have been on the pitch at the time of Winks goal. Yet he was probably best placed of all our strikers to set up the goal how he did. I know players say that Enzo tells them in advance how a game will pan out, but that’s some next level psychic shit!
-
Was always going to be the risk loaning him to Sheff Utd, he's going to be in the spotlight, losing most weeks and probably not quite ready for that level. Put it all together and it's either going to make or break him. With hindsight maybe a loan to a team pushing the Championship play offs might have served him better, but time will tell.
-
On one hand, he shouldn’t really be playing at this level. On the other hand, he shouldn’t really be playing at this level.
-
Never thought I’d say this but would like to see hamza for Ricardo now. Bit of bite and no booking.
-
Vardy getting ready. Cannon might as well take his boots off!
-
We’ve got a really fast transition at times, from attack to defence mind!
-
It’s how I fear a threesome would work out.

Really looking forward to seeing what Yunus can do as an 8. Can see his involvement increasing and improving as the season goes on.

All this will be loads easier when we all just logon to the metaverse to watch two AI controlled teams of avatars compete to see who has the best coding and algorithms. Instant VAR decisions from the comfort of your own home! Until the AI starts diving...
-
But making it time bound does two things; massively improves the in-stadium experience and mitigates the incorrect decisions somewhat (ie yes if someone in a studio spends 5 mins looking then yes you will spot errors). Personally I’d rather scrap it, but assuming it’s staying then just trying to find ways to make it better. Controversy will never go away (it’s part of the game and unless you’ve been royally done to we probably all quite like it!), it’s trying to find ways for VAR to minimise it and not add to it.
-
Have to say I’m much preferring football without it. Assuming it’s here to stay I’d make it a tool that’s there to aid the on pitch referee and not undermine them. If the ref wants a second opinion on his decision (eg any clear or obvious that goal shouldn’t stand?) then VAR gets 1min to review and if there’s nothing obvious (ie not drawing those stupid lines) then go with the original decision. If VAR spots a serious incident (eg red card or penalty) the ref has missed then the ref watches it on the screen and has a minute to decide if he wants to take action. Speeds things up and gives clearer accountability.

Think it’s fair to say if he was here at the beginning of last season we’d have stayed up. Looks every part the modern keeper and bar a couple of risky passes (inevitable given the sample size) he’s looked very assured all season. Should have a very successful career at a big club if things go to plan for him.
