Webbo Posted 7 May 2015 Author Posted 7 May 2015 Pretty much. Or brought up that way. You accused me of conceit earlier but since my initial post we've had both stereotypes: Exhibit A) Believes the right-wing press 'Labour ruined the economy and the Tories have done a good job fixing it' Exhibit B) Wants to preserve privilege 'I don't want Labour taking my hard-earned cash and giving it to benefit scroungers'. Then there are labour stereo types Exhibit A) Privileged type suffering from middle class guilt. Makes a big noise about voting Labour because he wants people to think he's morally superior. Exhibit B) Thick twat with a chip on his shoulder who thinks he's entitled to other people's money.
Grewks Posted 7 May 2015 Posted 7 May 2015 So we haven't had a fall in unemployment, low inflation, strong growth and halved the deficit? we've not halved the deficit.
Grewks Posted 7 May 2015 Posted 7 May 2015 Then there are labour stereo types Exhibit A) Privileged type suffering from middle class guilt. Makes a big noise about voting Labour because he wants people to think he's morally superior. Exhibit B) Thick twat with a chip on his shoulder who thinks he's entitled to other people's money. There are far far more working class people within britain than the traditional 'upper class'. The fact Conservatives get the number of votes they do, clearly shows that they are far far more in touch with the middle and working class than you clearly believe.
Webbo Posted 7 May 2015 Author Posted 7 May 2015 You're clearly exhibit A. Apart from low inflation, no. Did you read the link? Yes, an obvious Labour supporter comparing Britain during a worldwide boom to Britain after a massive recession. Only an idiot would pretend the economy hasn't improved massively in the last 5 years.
Rincewind Posted 7 May 2015 Posted 7 May 2015 There are lies, dammed lies and statistics. In other words it depends on how you compile the figures.
ChrisFilter Posted 7 May 2015 Posted 7 May 2015 Then there are labour stereo types Exhibit A) Privileged type suffering from middle class guilt. Makes a big noise about voting Labour because he wants people to think he's morally superior. Exhibit B) Thick twat with a chip on his shoulder who thinks he's entitled to other people's money. Exhibit B is highly unlikely to vote. It's fair to say that a lot of Labour voters have chips on their shoulder though. Enormous dissatisfaction with a government who don't look out for them. Seems fair enough to me. I don't feel guilty about being middle-class. I've just benefited enormously from state schooling and the NHS and I'm voting to preserve that. I also think a strong welfare system is a sign of a strong and healthy economy. I am morally superior on this front. Probably not on plenty of other fronts though.
Grewks Posted 7 May 2015 Posted 7 May 2015 Yes, an obvious Labour supporter comparing Britain during a worldwide boom to Britain after a massive recession. Only an idiot would pretend the economy hasn't improved massively in the last 5 years. But so has the world economy. You cannot criticize labour for the economy during their last stint....but then praise the tories for the improvements within the economy over the last 5 years.
purpleronnie Posted 7 May 2015 Posted 7 May 2015 Voted earlier. Backed Andrew Bridgen, ©. After all it's all about voting for YOUR local MP. AB was remarkably helpful with a personal issue we had a year or two back, and took the time/trouble to keep in touch whilst things were getting sorted. Can't see any reason whatsoever not to want him carrying on here ! Yep forgot the bigger issues or what the parties stand for.

The guy is an American economist - he doesn't have a vote.
Webbo Posted 7 May 2015 Author Posted 7 May 2015 But so has the world economy. You cannot criticize labour for the economy during their last stint....but then praise the tories for the improvements within the economy over the last 5 years. Tell that to the Greeks.
ronnup Posted 7 May 2015 Posted 7 May 2015 Tell that to the Greeks. You've not read that link have you? Where did you get this information from?
Webbo Posted 7 May 2015 Author Posted 7 May 2015 The western economy has improved, ships rise with the tide. And clearly you haven't read it. The guy is an American economist - he doesn't have a vote. So if you don't have a vote you can't be biased? It's 1 persons opinion based on selective stats. You're convinced because it justifies your prejudice, surely somebody as morally superior as yourself can concede that? You've not read that link have you? Where did you get this information from? Sorry, our economy is doing badly and Greece is doing well now?
ronnup Posted 7 May 2015 Posted 7 May 2015 So if you don't have a vote you can't be biased? It's 1 persons opinion based on selective stats. You're convinced because it justifies your prejudice, surely somebody as morally superior as yourself can concede that? Sorry, our economy is doing badly and Greece is doing well now? You're inventing things now. Probably good to take a step back.

You're convinced because it justifies your prejudice, surely somebody as morally superior as yourself can concede that? Sorry, our economy is doing badly and Greece is doing well now? You're backing yourself into a corner here. As I said earlier, you will have to look long and hard for an independent economist (I.E. not one tied to some 'think-tank') who disagrees with the conclusions in that article. The Tories have done a woeful job. Our economy should be doing better. No one's said Greece is doing well. You objected to my characterisation of Tory voters earlier. Why are you voting Tory?
Webbo Posted 7 May 2015 Author Posted 7 May 2015 You're inventing things now. Probably good to take a step back. I'm going out in a minute so this will be my last bit, but please explain what I'm making up and I'll correct you in the morning..

You're convinced because it justifies your prejudice, surely somebody as morally superior as yourself can concede that? Sorry, our economy is doing badly and Greece is doing well now? Were you the caller after the chelsea game who said 'we cant criticize and of the lads after they gave everything' and then went onto say 'konchesky is stealing a living'? Your bias is so so obvious. As i have already stated in this thread, i have already voted CONSERVATIVE , but most of your posts are utter nonsense.
Webbo Posted 7 May 2015 Author Posted 7 May 2015 You objected to my characterisation of Tory voters earlier. Why are you voting Tory? Because I believe we all do better under the tories.
ronnup Posted 7 May 2015 Posted 7 May 2015 I'm going out in a minute so this will be my last bit, but please explain what I'm making up and I'll correct you in the morning.. Nobody said Greece's economy was doing well mate. Enjoy you're evening
ChrisFilter Posted 7 May 2015 Posted 7 May 2015 Because I believe we all do better under the tories. Despite all the evidence to the contrary? This would all point to you believing the right-wing press.
Grewks Posted 7 May 2015 Posted 7 May 2015 I'm going out in a minute so this will be my last bit, but please explain what I'm making up and I'll correct you in the morning.. Well for starters....instead of saying how well our country is doing in comparison to Greece for instance, why don't you actually compare ourselves to a country with a similar GDP. Germany perhaps?
sphericalfox Posted 7 May 2015 Posted 7 May 2015 Because I believe we all do better under the tories.
Guest MattP Posted 7 May 2015 Posted 7 May 2015 It's amazing that people think they have rescued the economy. Simply amazing. It's almost as amazing as those who trust Labour with the NHS given Mid Staffs, Wales and the fact they extensively privatised large portions of it through PFI. 'awaits shit link from random bedroom bound left wing blogger' Got my vote for greens in. Hopefully SNP will be in any coalition and there will be an end to austerity; we're behind the rest of Europe and even America. A 1.5trillion debt and a deficit of 90 billion yet some people still think we can someone solve this without making cuts? It's beyond belief, fantasy politics.
Grewks Posted 7 May 2015 Posted 7 May 2015 "Because i believe we all do better under the tories". That single sentence has just completely dumbfounded me. Now....explain to me how those who pay the bedroom tax are now financially better off?

It's beyond belief, fantasy politics. I don't think anyone is claiming Labour represent a good option. They're definitely a less shit, less divisive, less damaging option though. Austerity has been repeatedly shown to be an ineffective growth strategy. Again, this is a known, proven truth, not opinion. The cuts are there to appeal to voters.
