Guest Col city fan Posted 3 May 2015 Posted 3 May 2015 I don't think Newcastle fans will be happy until they have a team comprising 11 Geordies on the field, managed by Shearer. They are a fickle bunch up there. It's all or nothing with them, there's no middle ground. That said, it's time the owner either invests in the club, or sells it. They have become a shambles of a football club and actually deserve, IMO, to be relegated.
Nalis Posted 3 May 2015 Posted 3 May 2015 I stil maintain Newcastle could easily have reached Man City levels of success if they were purchased by the right party. Massive fan base, impressive stadium, fundamentals were there. Instead, you have a guy raping the club for all its worth resulting in a shit team and manager. Relegation might actually help and force Cashley into selling his Sports Direct toy.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 3 May 2015 Posted 3 May 2015 I can't help but thinking Newcastle fans get what they deserve. I've never heard of a group of fans moan so much. And talk about boycotting and protesting so much. They've never been as good as they think they should be. If they had Pardew, as much I don't think the guys a genius, would they be in the mess they are now? I mean, why have it in for him, really? He did a very decent job for them overall. Maybe if they just shut the fvck up now and again and tried supporting their team they wouldn't keep self-destructing. I'm not saying they aren't right to be angry right now, but they're always angry anyway. Is it any surprise that their players are shitting themselves every game when they've got a group of fans baying for blood because they're aren't the 95-97 team? I mean, the 'fvcking Leicester' comment sums them up. Making out like we've been trailing in their wake for our entire history, well they've had a ding dong experience for most of the last 40 years much like us, and we've won more trophies in that time. I can't see why anyone would want the Newcastle job, they're so quick to turn on their managers and players. Post of the week this. Bang on. I have absolutely zero sympathy with them. They deserve all they get due to their constant whining
Thracian Posted 3 May 2015 Posted 3 May 2015 Newcastle United are a bit of a myth - and Newcastle the sort of place that would have made the Romans abandon the British Isles. Whenever I hear the name "Newcastle" in relation to football I think "All Our Yesterdays" but the video reflected all the passion that's missing from the club itself and all the pain felt by any supporter on the losing side. Yesterday they didn't get it right from the kick-off and it just got worse. Not sure Leicester don't deserve a bit more credit though. They sure got some good things right - or at the very least promised to get them right - and that's encouraging even beyond the three points we collected. So many people were doing specific things with a purpose and within a team that has never lost its collective spirit for all the setbacks. At times yesterday it was genuinely exciting to watch em with Schluppy driving down the wing, Albrighton bending in such dangerous crosses, Vardy causing perpetual havoc and all sorts moving and driving into the box eager to gobble up anything available. Much as Newcastle used to be!

Much as Newcastle used to be! Bang on - having lived up here since I was 10 I know loads of NUFC fans. Firstly best fans in the world etc etc look at the late eighties early 90's - 20k average attendance. The Keegan era lit the fire again up there, ironically in a period where we won more trophies, and a few title challenges, FA cup finals and a stunning performance against Barcelona have given the fans enormous dillusions of grandeur. They are a big enough club but like Villa and Forest, you are where you are today and for this massive club and huge fan base myth it is just that - they haven't won a trophy (aside from championship and inter continental cup) for nearly 40 years. Both boro and Sunderland have won trophies since then , although Sunderland was 3 years later :-). Yeh 50k turn up but to what end, they haven't really done anything since Robson left - who was truly a great man.
Buce Posted 3 May 2015 Posted 3 May 2015 In the comments section of the grauniad match report, one geordie said of us, "I haven't seen such pride and passion from a team and its fans in the premiership for many years. I hope they stay up, even if it's at our expense". Nice to hear.
GloverFox Posted 3 May 2015 Posted 3 May 2015 ... hahaha ..... Totally quality, so funny I had to watch it twice ... love the Geordies and as such I really hope we can both stay up so we can have another cracking night out in Newcastle next season. Oh hell ... I'm going to watch it again!!!!!
johnny the fox Posted 3 May 2015 Posted 3 May 2015 now that's the type bloke they need on the panel of MOTD..
Rob1742 Posted 3 May 2015 Posted 3 May 2015 Brilliant, and I think he has it bang on. However, I bet he protested and wanted Pardew out. I said to the missus last night that if I was Ashley, I would definitely get rid of Carver today and give anyone available the job until the seasons end. It was that bad yesterday and worst still was Carvers reaction, which will probably seal his fate. The change could mean they get out of it, so this change will be bad news for us.

Pay him compensation and have to pay more for another manager to come in? No chance.
Rob1742 Posted 3 May 2015 Posted 3 May 2015 Pay him compensation and have to pay more for another manager to come in? No chance. I would put money on it. It's broken, they are the worst team in the mix and MA will have to make that change. Compensation won't be much as there are only three games left, and offering someone a normal wage with £1m bonus for staying up is nothing compared with what they could lose. I could see him sticking with Carver after Pardew as MA aim is just to stay up and collect his £70m Sky money. But if that is a risk, which it is now, he will have to act.

Dan Posted 3 May 2015 Posted 3 May 2015 Do people seriously think they're demanding a top class side? I'd be absolutely furious if Leicester were as deprived of character as Newcastle were yesterday.
Corky Posted 3 May 2015 Posted 3 May 2015 I don't think Newcastle fans will be happy until they have a team comprising 11 Geordies on the field, managed by Shearer. Col, that is absolute rubbish. Some of their heroes are Malcolm McDonald, Les Ferdinand, Robert Lee (all Londoners). Even possibly the biggest hero, Kevin Keegan, is a Yorkshireman. Terry McDermott is a Scouser, Bobby Moncur is a Scot, Wyn Davies is Welsh. They used to be a vibrant team who were attractive to watch win, lose or draw. They are totally opposite now, a joyless club with a woeful team. We'd be pissed off if our team produced that level of ineptitude on a weekly basis. We lost many matches earlier in the season but at least the players looked like they were giving it their all in most games.

Yep, and they'd give every one of them up for a team comprising solely Shearers and Gazzas.... Whay ay....up the toon man
The Year Of The Fox Posted 3 May 2015 Posted 3 May 2015 Do people seriously think they're demanding a top class side? I'd be absolutely furious if Leicester were as deprived of character as Newcastle were yesterday. They demand trophies based on their fan base. That itself is ridiculous. How many managers have they hounded out? Stop your fckin protesting during the game and get behind your players and HOPE to inspire some passion into them.

Even away at Villa in the cup we still had an 'OK' first half. Yep, and they'd give every one of them up for a team comprising solely Shearers and Gazzas.... Whay ay....up the toon man Considering they're better than the ones named then I think they'd be mad not to. Newcastle fans are far from angels but they get a lot of unjustified stick in my eyes. I'm amazed they managed 2,000 fans here yesterday. Early kick-off, 400 mile round trip and probably the most uninspiring team to watch in the top two leagues.

Did you not see the banner at the ground yesterday?
The Year Of The Fox Posted 3 May 2015 Posted 3 May 2015 No they don't. This has convinced me you haven't got a clue about them or Blackpool. Did you not see the banner at the ground yesterday? Historically of course they do. Surely you must have heard them say shite before like, 'Given the size of our club we should be winning things'???
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 3 May 2015 Posted 3 May 2015 I wish Geordies would speak English. I was staying at a hotel in Newcastle last year, when a group of fans came into drink. I was wearing my City shirt, and we spent about an hour having a chat. Don't ask me what it was about, because I haven't a clue!
Haydos Posted 3 May 2015 Posted 3 May 2015 Historically of course they do. Surely you must have heard them say shite before like, 'Given the size of our club we should be winning things'??? How is that demanding trophies? I agree with them, given the size of the club and their position in the 90/00's they have every right to be disappointed in their lack of success. Just like a club like us or Leeds shouldn't get to the position where we're relegated to League 1. Big stadium, big fan base, good history. Then they get lumped with an owner like Ashley who has zero ambition other than keeping them profitable. You'd be different if he was in charge of us, that's for sure.
MaglusTheGr8 Posted 4 May 2015 Posted 4 May 2015 Correct. I haven't seen us play as badly all season as they did yesterday. Even away at Villa in the cup we still had an 'OK' first half. Fair play to the 2,000 fans that travelled all the way down here, knowing what to expect, and how they feel about the current owner. You may be right, but looking back at it, I'm not sure we were much better against Shrewsbury this year though.
Rob1742 Posted 4 May 2015 Posted 4 May 2015 Get on it then. Easy money to be made at evens. Money where your mouth is? I Don't need to gamble. Looks like they are saying he is staying on SSN. Seriously good news for us as someone shaking them up for a few games could have taken them out the zone. Great news he is staying.
