The Labour Party recently reached 300,000 members, of which 100,000 have joined since May. 600,000 ballot papers have been sent out in total.

That alone should tell you that this election is as much under the control of people with a myriad of motives ranging from genuine supporters to infiltrators and political opponents wishing to weaken the party as it is under the control of genuine members.

God knows how you do it but the simple principle should surely be, if you vote Labour at the GE you vote on its leadership. Problem is you could never trust any Government related body or organisation to protect the secrecy of individual votes - though I'm not sure why anyone would be ashamed to vote Labour. It's hardly the BNP.

I honestly think full members only is the least we can do in the future. The people who actually knock on doors, pay monthly subs and have worked for the party should have much more than a third of the popular vote as is the case now.

We're in the frankly silly situation where two thirds of the people making the decision had nothing to do with the party at the election, and as you rightly say have motives shrouded in mystery.

And a lot of the false ones that joined will leave no matter the result. The infultrayers like Matt (bing a member of Tory Labour and UKIP is a bit extreme really) and those pissed off that he never won. And more will leave if he wins and then  deselected.

So its a lose lose situation. I'm more of the old type Liberal anyway and too old to worry about which party fecks the country.

I regret becoming a member now, the amount of spam emails I'm getting fgs leave me alone.

I know how you feel. I replied to an email before the GE from the Con Party asking £20 for a mug and then received emails thanking me for my support. It is obvious they did not read my reply or take up my suggestion as to where to place the mug as David Cameron still walks straight.

Or which party helps the country, if you're a glass half full kind of guy.

I'm a skeptical old git.

Interesting to see Rupert Murdoch backs Corbyn.  Says he is the only candidate that believes is something. The admiration is not mutual as it is shown at the end of this article. Warning divert your eyes from the picture on the left it may cause offense to the delicate minded.

Number crunching.

Elections won by Tony Blair - 3.

Elections won by hard left candidates - 0.

Illegal wars started: Tony Blair - 1

Like a mug I forgot to sign up in time to get a vote. I've U-Turned and my vote would have been for Comrade Corbyn. Time to give Labour an identity again - whether deemed electable or not we shall see.

Louise Mensch's twitter account is probably the most hilarious thing on twitter, she's absolutely deranged.

I can't tell if she's serious or not when she says calling Liz a bitch makes you a misogynist. That search history thing was weird and all.

People often say they will vote labour and then vote tory.

It's about time we modernised the economy. Sign him up.

His ideas can't be as bad as we're being told because he's got support from two noble prize winning economists, among others.

He plans on hurting the 1% in the pocket to try and sort out some mess. They've probably got plenty so it's a good idea. No wonder they're fuming and coming at him from all sides.

Not read it yet but I saw a posted link that read a smear campaign against him has backfired. The other week they were on about his wife who he was divorced from in the 70's With all this dirt being slung at him he is gaining more support as the ones doing are showing that they are not the sort of people one wants in power Well I don't anyway.

Behave, these economic and social policies might go down well on the floor of a student union but they have no place in the modern World, it's pure fantasy, the top 1% contribute 30% of the tax take, when Labour went after the rich in the 70's that dropped to about 8%, it would probably drop even lower these days as we have freedom of movement and these people are the ones who can just up and leave whilst affording to do so.

If you want more recent examples then just look across the borders at the French tax rates and wealth tax and see how you manage to end up losing money doing it, as usual the rich will toddle off and the middle and lower classes will end up having to pay more for huge public spending.

His comments comparing IS to US soldiers were absolutely appalling as well.

Islamic State quite deliberately and proudly murders anyone opposed to it on the basis of faith, gender and sexuality. The US forces in Fallujah fought under specific and strict orders to limit civilian casualties, even to the extent of placing themselves in greater danger. A small minority of American soldiers disobeyed those orders. No US soldiers, however, threw a man off a high building because they thought he was gay. Or stoned a woman to death because she was inconveniently outspoken. Or forced a teenager to become a suicide bomber. Or systematically enslaved and raped Yazidi women. Nor, while some US troops certainly mistreated some prisoners, did American soldiers routinely parade and execute captured Iraqis.

He has referred to both Hamas and Hezbollah, organisations committed to the destruction of Israel, as “friends.” He has long campaigned for the lifting of United Nations sanctions imposed on Iran in an attempt to curtail that country’s uranium enrichment programme.

He isn't fit to run a raffle, let alone a major political party. I'll sell up and go on the dole if Corbyn became PM.

I don't think Corbyn himself has tried to smear the other candidates. In fact he has called on his supporters to not abuse them.

He hast kept clear of the nasty bits and concentrated on his own campaign. If some of his supporters seem OTT then this is caused by the anger felt at the increasing trend to a Blairite Labour party and the loss of Labour's principles rightly or wrongly. If he loses then some will see it as a fix and who can blame them with all the attacks and smear campaigns against him.

The trouble is the other candidates are truly shocking.

One even chose to marry Ed Balls.

Labour needs to split if it has any chance of being re-elected any time soon. .
