Renart Posted 12 May 2015 Posted 12 May 2015 I am getting married in Ireland in June of next year and we are trying to find a band (remotely, as we live in London). I don't really want your 'run-of-the-mill' cheesy pop stuff - although I don't particularly have a problem with this and it does tend to work well for this audience. I like folk/country/blue grass music, along with what is loosely termed 'alternative'. An ability to do Trad. music and ceilidh would be a bonus. Can you believe that many of the bands we like are already booked out? I was just wondering if anyone on here has any recommendations - I appreciate that this is a long-shot considering they would have to be an Irish band and most of you live in the UK.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 12 May 2015 Posted 12 May 2015 The Thrills must surely be desperate for work by now.
separator Posted 12 May 2015 Posted 12 May 2015 U2 have been out busking on the New York subway this week, maybe a wedding band could be next for them.
Renart Posted 13 May 2015 Author Posted 13 May 2015 Always good options for that sort of thing here. Cheers for that. I will take a look.
sphericalfox Posted 15 May 2015 Posted 15 May 2015 I used a band called Fraggle Rock (from Galway) and they were superb. They learned and played our first dance song as requested, and got the crowd going with favorites and brilliant lively covers. Highly recommended. This was about 6 years ago. They got us all to congo line around the entire hotel venue which was superb. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Fraggle-Rock-Wedding-Band/156320964416051 http://weddingbandlist.com/bands/fraggle-rock/
