Will our Great Escape be forgotten?

To be remembered I think it needs to have a unique factor to it, but unfortunately I just don't think that there is one. There are 2 other teams who were bottom at Xmas and survived. And WBA were bottom on the last day and survived.

The fact that we have survived with a game to go also removes any drama from it. If Hull stay up now, they will probably still all our great escape glory!

If we pick up at least a point on Sunday, then we will have amassed more points in our final 9 games than we did in the first 29.

That sounded impressive until I realised that the only reason it's so impressive is because we were so poor for the first 29 games!

Us City fans will always remember it, but only if it becomes the Launchpad for one of the most successful periods in our History. (If we get relegated next season then it will be quickly forgotten).

The 5-3 against Man U will always be remembered though. One of the best Premiership games ever.

Vardy's goal to put us 4-3 up... That was the best moment of the season (actually the best moment since 1997).

Staying up with one game remaining may have removed the "drama," but you may have just mentioned a "unique factor" of Leicester's survival right there.

I see what you mean, but I don't think you get remembered for being undramatic! Villa and WBA have undramatically stayed up too.

Once the euphoria has all gone, we may actually start questioning why we were so poor for those first 29 games, rather than why we were so brilliant for the last 9.

Forget about what?

The 2014/15 season... we finished 14th or something... fairly boring season as I recall.

So West Ham's run which was remarkably similar to ours (bar the whole Tevez & Mascherano saga and court issues) is somehow very different?

And I am sorry but it's pretty stupid saying 'we did it ourselves and didn't rely on other teams not picking up points'.

Mathematically we could not make up ground on the teams above us if they results didn't go our way, so we did rely on that.

Why did Sunderland rely on Norwich? The league table that season shows they finished above Villa, Hull and WBA as well...

But, obviously, being Leicester fans, this is a run we will remember for a long, long time.

The Tevez and Mascherano saga soured the whole run and they broke the rules with third party ownership. Without Tevez that run just wouldn't have happened.

We did it ourselves because we took a staggering 19 points out of 24, I would've thought that was obvious. Other teams will always drop points over the course of a season.

Norwich didn't pick up a single point in their last 6 games, ok, fair enough they finished above some others I'll grant you that.

Those 3 escapes were all memorable in different ways though. West Brom's was the most dramatic, Sunderland's was a victory for the underdog, and ours was the most unlikely.

The difference between ours and the other 2 is that their's will be remembered for a defining match (West Brom the final game, Sunderland the Chelsea one)  whereas ours will be the run as a whole.

Quite ironic as well how you'd argue West Brom & Sunderland were probably the two most important games during that run as well.

I had it printed onto a hi viz vest for work a few weeks ago, wasn't sure how it would turn out but quality is top notch.

Its all relative really and depends on what you consider as the greater acheivement.

On paper its West Brom but the fact it was Palace messing up in the last 15 mins than West Brom scoring, say, a last minute winner doesnt make it completely special.

Wigan's run was impressive, Sunderland's last season more so considering who they played.

Also thought the Fulham escape were they were 2-0 down v City is up there.

I agree with the Tevez signing ruining the magnitude of the achievement, but their run was as good as ours. They were actually 10 points adrift with 9 games to go. If we are being fair, we have to say that their run was as good as ours because it was the same magnitude and they were even 1 point further adrift. If I remember rightly, I think they won at Arsenal and United as part of their run. Some may argue that this made it better. BUT for me, they are both on a par, and so we have equaled the greatest ever escape imo.

West Brom and Sunderland were more dramatic, but ours was more prolonged, given being rock bottom for 141 days and that's why it is better.

I know I won't ever forget this season.

It's been the biggest roller-coaster ride for the club in years.

I rate this comeback up with most of the things that Martin achieved to be honest.

NOW we need to really kick on and become a real force once more.

It's about time the club got to Wembley again for instance.
