Marcin Wasilewski - New Contract

Have to admit he did very well for us second half of the season and deserves another year. I'd be surprised if he was in the starting 11 next season, but very solid back up.

I'm arguing he was great all season.

Astonishingly dropped in favour of Upson by Pearson after being our best defender up to that point. One of many daft decisions made mid season by the manager - swapping form and pace, with out for a year injured and very slow!

I know! Even now I can't let some of that bizarre behaviour go!

What might seem like 'daft' decisions to us as fans might well be done for a reason. I don't know what had been going on down at Belvoir Drive at that time and I suspect that I'm not the only one. Players can be left out for many reasons and not just football related. If only it was as simple as picking as the best starting 11 every week. There's more to professional football management than that. Sometimes we forget and 'bizarre behaviour' is mostly not how we would describe it were we to be in possession of the full facts.

What are you suggesting?

I'm suggesting that we as fans have absolutely no idea what is happening most of the time.

So had something happened?

Would be a bit of a strange post if not.

The suggestion is maybe Wasyl was carrying an injury or similar? A injury they could manage after an initial period of rest?

There's an example.

But he wasn't, as far as I know. Wasyl rarely speaks to the press, but in these few interviews he has given during the season he stated he had totally no problem with any injuries this season (apart from that knock in the shoulder during the match with QPR).

I think this is what Cardiff et al are talking about. Unless you have good reason to believe you know something, you probably don't know enough to call it bizarre behaviour.

For the record, at the time our defence was a shambles and Upson coming in didn't immediately seem ridiculous. But Was was our best at that point, so on the face of it I'd have to agree: totally bizarre. But if we'd dropped Morgan when his form was stinking the place up, would he have had the end of season he did?

Literally who knows? But NP probably had some reason, based on a lot more information than any of us...

Exactly my point
