Witch Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 Confirmed on his Instagram page that he's signed a new contract with Leicester. Great news. Now I can enjoy the summer.

Wasilewski joined the Foxes in the summer of 2013 following a successful six-year spell with Anderlecht, where he lifted three Belgian league titles. The powerful defender, whose new deal also includes the option of a one-year extension, has made 28 appearances in all competitions for the Foxes this season. He played a vital role in his side’s surge to Barclays Premier League survival, helping them secure five clean sheets in their final seven fixtures. Wasilewski made his Premier League debut against West Bromwich Albion in November, and netted his first goal in England’s top flight at Manchester United in January.
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 Great news, solid as a rock! Just get Huth sorted now!
Stadt Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 Today, Leicester City signed a new contract with Marcin Wasilewski

Danno Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 Remember when that West Brom fan came on here crying saying we should ban the animal
Vicki Vixen Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 I'm not keen on these one year deals with an option of a one year extension for ageing players. GTF exercised his option to extend and it turned in to a year when he was paid by the club for very little in return. I appreciate Wasyl may not have agreed to sign the contract without this clause, but do the club really think he has two full years of PL football left in him?

PaulW Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 Starting to get excited already. Getting the feeling we're on brink of something big in the next few seasons!

Hell yes, as somebody famously said......oh, wait -
HighPeakFox Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 Really happy about this - he has earned his contract, as GTF did.........Pearson appears to reward success and loyalty, correctly I think

It's not down to the player whether the one-year option gets exercised or not it's down to the club. If Pearson doesn't feel that Wasilewski is up to it next year then he can be releaed at the end of the year. GTF was given his contract as it was appearance based rather than performance based, if it was solely down to Pearson's judgement it may well have been a different result last summer.
DB11 Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 Fantastic news - one of my favourite players recently and that tackle at home to Newcastle was brilliant
Leicesterpool Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 Really pleased, one of the main reasons why the foxes stayed up!
Raw Dykes Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 Great news. Lovely stuff. Like others have said, hopefully Huth and Cambiasso will follow suit.
Vietnamfox Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 Went to this party some years back. Wasyl reminds me of these mentalists every time I see him. A highly recommended weekend! Listen to what the feller says at about 1 min..
ARM1968 Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 Top guy. Solid defender. Good presence on the pitch and scares the opposition.

Thanks for clarifying. I thought after seeing the GTF extension, that these options were always with the player rather than the club. If it's the club's option whether or not to renew after 12 months with Wasyl then that's a great deal for us. I still never understand why Pearson continued to play GTF after we'd already secured promotion, knowing that appearance clause was in his contract.
ealingfox Posted 4 June 2015 Posted 4 June 2015 Although still a fillip for him no doubt with it being at Old Trafford, the fact that his first goal for us was the consolation in a 3-1 defeat still gripes. The ensuing goonage if it had been a late winner or even equaliser would have gone down in the Club's history.
