Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 20 June 2015 Posted 20 June 2015 Got a primary school about 20 metres from my house. Come home early one day and found some bleeder parked on my drive. Their reasoning "I've been doing it for weeks and nobody complained"... Oh that's ok then!!! Next time get a few neighbours to help lift the car up from the front, tip it over so it rolls onto its roof in the road. Problem solved In all seriousness though I don't know what I'd do if someone actually had the cheek to park on my drive. The very least I'd block it completely, set a camera up and f*** off for a few slow pints
HEGGSY Posted 20 June 2015 Posted 20 June 2015 It is Church HillThought it might be I live about a minutes walk away from Eastfield. My brother goes there, he walks home himself but the amount of people that live near me who drive up is insane

After failing to find out who's it was we decided that the 5 of us could lift it out of the way unfortunately as we went to place it in a clear space the bodywork started to come away from the chassis, suffice to say we legged it pretty sharply although never really felt that bad about it with the way it had been parked.

Haha! Serves them right really. Did you really need 5 to lift a Reliant?
The Year Of The Fox Posted 20 June 2015 Posted 20 June 2015 My parents live within 100 yards of a primary school on a cul de sac. If I want to go & visit them I have to consider what time it is. If it's school knocking off time......forget it. My Dad says it's a miracle that a school kid hasn't been knocked over or killed. People park anywhere they like, on grass verges, on corners, in front of people's drives. People have even used his drive to park on regular occasions. If he comes home & finds a car on his drive (which can take 2 cars), he parks behind it & goes into the house & waits for the parent to come knocking so that they can get their car off. He makes them wait, sometimes up to half hour. The parent will have the nerve to give him a mouthful. Luckily for him, he enjoys a good argument. Kids open their doors on the road side & jump out without looking, when there are cars flying about everywhere & everyone seems to be in a mad rush to get to work (or get back home for Jeremy Kyle). There have been traffic wardens & when someone points out a car illegally parked they just shrug their shoulders & carry on walking. It's as if they've been told to turn a blind eye at school knocking off times. The street have collectively contacted the police, the council & the school to see what can be done about it. They have made suggestions, e.g. car sharing, but all they do is note their comments & nothing ever changes. The chap who lives in the first house on the close, on the corner, received a letter from the council saying that he must keep his hedges trimmed & below a certain height because they could obstruct the view of cars entering/exiting the street. The piss taking twats. Why do kids need to be driven to school anyway? I'm sure a good proportion of them live within walking distance. I'll sound like an old fart now, but as soon as could find my way to school I was left to it. I was probably about 7 years old & it was about a 15 minute walk..........uphill in both directions. How did that work?
davieG Posted 20 June 2015 Author Posted 20 June 2015 Haha! Serves them right really. Did you really need 5 to lift a Reliant? We were young and naive.
Vlad the Fox Posted 20 June 2015 Posted 20 June 2015 Haha! Serves them right really. Did you really need 5 to lift a Reliant? One on the exhaust another on the other corner and wheelbarrow it away. 2 people.
davieG Posted 20 June 2015 Author Posted 20 June 2015 One on the exhaust another on the other corner and wheelbarrow it away. 2 people. Not sure that would work with the hand break on.
Vlad the Fox Posted 20 June 2015 Posted 20 June 2015 Not sure that would work with the hand break on. A firm shove should be enough to brake the cable.
davieG Posted 20 June 2015 Author Posted 20 June 2015 A firm shove should be enough to brake the cable. Ha! Mind you we weren't trying to damage it just move it.

davieG Posted 21 June 2015 Author Posted 21 June 2015 Had they blocked his driveway? I can see why you asked but the thread was meant to be about any subject that involved people being not quite an absolute ****. Having said that the driver of the car seems like an absolute ****.

Rincewind Posted 21 June 2015 Posted 21 June 2015 Has anyone see the article in the Mecury yet about a bloke from Quorn whocannot speak walk or feed himself was sent a letter from the Job Centre telling him to go for an interview for job training. His wife called them up to tell them and their replly was to say they could do a telephone interview. DOH. They had a laugh about it but said the serious side was that there are some sent the letters that do not have the help or support close by. A spokesman made the usual apology saying he was sent the wrong letter and are looking into it. http://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/Man-walk-talk-feed-told-attend-Job-Centre/story-26738618-detail/story.html By Leicester Mercury | Posted: June 21, 2015
Merging Cultures Posted 21 June 2015 Posted 21 June 2015 As your drive is private property, can you clamp someone for parking there? Or charge a fee in 5 min increments. Could be a nice little earner.

I wish people would stop feeding local news non stories.Someone sent us a letter, we called to explain the problem, they said don't worry about it. Same stuff every time.

I was speaking to someone who's relative lived near Heathrow and they said someone once parked on their drive and went on holiday. They called the police and were told if any damage happened to the car they could be prosecuted for criminal damage.

Don't touch the car just make it impossible to move.
Vlad the Fox Posted 21 June 2015 Posted 21 June 2015 If it was me I'd have got it off the drive one way or the other out the street and dumped somewhere. Then deny any knowledge.
