Leicester and Europa Fair Play

Recommended Posts

After reading the Leicester Mercury's article on Leicester City being the best behaved team in the 14/15 season. http://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/Leicester-City-s-red-card-XI/story-26773743-detail/story.html?

I Thought i would check where we finished  in the Premier league fair play league and how far off we were from winning this title, something i have never really taken notice off.

http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/news/news/2014-15/may/260515-west-ham-top-fair-play-league.html

R/Y = red/yellow cards
P/P = positive play
R/O = respect towards opponents
R/R = respect towards the referee and officials
B/O = behaviour of the team officials

Looking at this table closely you will see Leicester where top scoring in the R/Y column and second in R/R which is something i have heard Pearson say in interviews about he doesn't want players surrounding the referee. It also Says we are towards the bottom in the B/O column which is no surprise given the incidents surrounding Pearson this season.

If we Pearson can stay incident free and the players keep conducting them selves the way that they are doing there is a very small chance that with next seasons with the signings and a few more points in positive play (P/P) we could find our selves top of this table and getting into the qualification stages on Europa league the following season. (Aslong as England finish top 3 associations again)

We are certainly not nailed on for this next season but we are not far off looking at this table.

Strange (ironic?)  that Peason wants the players to behave themselves on the pitch yet sometimes behaves like an arsehole himself. Shows his passion for the club.

I think he has the right principles and standards but his emotions just get the better of him and it turns him into a nutter! Would rather habe someone like that than a by the book dullard that reels of the same old cliches week in week out

Fuch that, Pearson can act as he likes. We'll just win the League and/or FA Cup.

Or we'll do a Southampton, finish top 7, and hope the cup winners are above us in the league.

Also no guarantee that England will finish top 3 again to get that extra Europa League qualifying spot.

Does make me laugh that almost every team we played said we were "dirty" and tried to "influence the ref"... and yet there we are bottom of both of them.

Maybe we're just really, really good at influencing the ref?

If it's marked as a team, we only had one player influencing the ref all season. But he really went for it...

Sooner give it a miss, don't they start qualifying really early like the start of July.

They said on the radio the other day how many games West Ham will play in it if they reach the final, it's like a second season in the Premier league, while you're still in it.

Plus all the games moved to Sundays as you're at the arse end of Russia on a Thursday night.

Stoke, Chelsea and Burnley all had worse B/O scores than us... And Sunderland were well below...

I totally agree, Ken.

maybe by not trying to influence the ref, we were influencing the ref :-) Have to admit I am a rubbish ref but when my kids are being a pain moaning about an incident, I generally always give the decision the other way to make a point - it has however resulted in me giving some quite appauling and dodgy decisions  :)

Months ago, my lad was floored big style and grabbed the ball whinging so I gave hand ball  -  Actually thinking about it,  he hasn't mentioned it for a couple of days  :D

The fair play is load of nonsense and who ever the fa want to win it go to the top, who dedides if a teqm is respectful to the opposition, how ambiguous a rating is that?

Liverpol are second on that table, equal with west ham for r/o, you telling me that stirlings sulking and general spolt brat behaviour is respectful?

Load of old bollocks and not something we should be worried about winning, we should behave in a profesional, respectful manner anyway.

UEFA is changing its Respect Fair Play reward criteria from the 2015/16 season – with winning associations being awarded prize money to allocate to fair play or respect-themed projects in their respective countries instead of being awarded places in the UEFA Europa League. (...)

These rewards will replace, as from season 2016/17, the three additional places offered in the UEFA Europa League.
