Foxhateram Posted 28 August 2015 Share Posted 28 August 2015 So excited for this. Game have dispatched it! Haven't played the mini ones from the PS store but have played up to guns of the Patriots so hopefully il understand the storyline.
Buzzell Posted 28 August 2015 Share Posted 28 August 2015 Do you need to play all the previous MGS games to understand what this games storyline is about or can you play this as a one off?
Libertine Posted 28 August 2015 Share Posted 28 August 2015 I gave in and ordered the PS3 version.

Legend_in_blue Posted 29 August 2015 Share Posted 29 August 2015 First hour or two was a bit weird. Weird, yes, but presentation is top notch. I like the idea of the cassette tapes - you can dip in and out of the narrative without sitting through too many cut scenes. I thought the start of the game was very clever, certainly better than watching eggs frying in a pan. No doubt it will go full circle by the end of the game. Whereabouts are you up to now? I've just visited Mother Base for the first time and have a few options available as to which mission I choose next.
IOWFOX Posted 29 August 2015 Share Posted 29 August 2015 So i have done a couple of main ops and 3 out of 137? side ops. Overall completion 4% and play time so far 9:50. Loved every minute and have just drove across my first mother base bridge.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 30 August 2015 Share Posted 30 August 2015 Put about 12 hours in, just building up the base. Some of the side ops are hilarious. Fulton out a sheep? Alright then. Apparently if you fulton out enough sheep you can deploy them as cover.
GLC Posted 30 August 2015 Author Share Posted 30 August 2015 Loving it so far!, got my little dog on the second mission, found it in the grass. I've unlocked a sneaking suit ($120,000) and I'm roughly 6% in

Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 30 August 2015 Share Posted 30 August 2015 Peace Walker and Metal Gear 3 are probably important, especially Peace Walker. But you can just read up and be in the loop.
GLC Posted 30 August 2015 Author Share Posted 30 August 2015 Somebody answer me god dammit? You can read the back story online, save yourself some time, that way you can go straight in to this game. If you have the time, play Snake Eater first (it's an incredible game) and then Peace Walker.

Foxhateram Posted 1 September 2015 Share Posted 1 September 2015 Not going to spoil it for anyone but wow what a start! Talk about drama and graphics at its best! That's on PS3. Can only imagine what it's like on PS4.

Buzzell Posted 1 September 2015 Share Posted 1 September 2015 Sod it I'm gunna pick this up. Was about to try and catch up with the story but got bored reading it. Anyone know where the cheapest place to get this from?
silebyboy Posted 2 September 2015 Share Posted 2 September 2015 I took the plunge and finally ordered a PS4 (along with this game) last night. Watched a few gameplay videos and it looks awesome. I love multiplayer games too but have no idea what this is going to offer on that front. I guess I'll soon find out.
kingcarr21 Posted 2 September 2015 Share Posted 2 September 2015 Im going into town to pick this up today. Completed the witcher so im going to trade it in for MGS. Need a new game to blast through and the reviews for this are impressive
kingcarr21 Posted 2 September 2015 Share Posted 2 September 2015 got it from Game, i got a deal of extra 25% on my trade ins and £5 off MGS if i preorder another game so i pre ordered Fallout 4. So cost £45 with which i got £35 for my trade ins so only cost me £10. Bargain
Brenfox Posted 2 September 2015 Share Posted 2 September 2015 I don't think I've ever heard Game & bargain in the same sentence before. Despite already having loads of new releases I've hardly touched I've just picked this up along with Mad Max.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 2 September 2015 Share Posted 2 September 2015 If you want to pick up a physical copy out and about Tesco is £40, cheapest at retail I think, marginally cheaper at one or two places online. Put a bit more time in to, really enjoy it, not bothered with the FoB stuff yet, the model of it just offends me so I'll probably never have a go. Legend_in_blue Posted 2 September 2015 Share Posted 2 September 2015 Simply games are now doing it for £39.85. They're reliable enough although on my pre-order they did, for the first time, charge me in advance of shipping it out by a few weeks. I'm tempted to pre-order the Uncharted Drake Collection from them as well - £34.85. Anyway, back to this fantastic game - the game is fantastic. Absolutely love it so far. I've completed all the side ops available up to mission 6 on the main missions, I am guessing more will open up the more I go through the main missions. I've decided not to go back on the main missions to complete the side quests until I've bettered my gear so I'm mainly coming out with a C or B rating on them. I'm varying the approach because apparently later into the game the AI will adapt if one method is used more than another (Alien Isolation did the same) so I'm all for a bit of challenge. Having got used to the controls and old tricks including using the cardboard box at the moment it's easy to play, but loads of fun. Upgraded binoculars to scout out better personnel and just expanded a few of the platforms. Looking forward to the first boss fight. Pity they can't throw in The End somewhere with this version of Metal Gear - it's just about perfect.
kingcarr21 Posted 3 September 2015 Share Posted 3 September 2015 I started this last night. Played for about 45 mins as it was getting late. So far so good. Not really done much im still in the first chapter but i wont say anymore. Graphics look stunning so far but ive found myself wondering wtf is going on. The last MGS game i played was MGS 4 so i feel like im missing out by not playing Peace Walker. Gonna have to read up on the story to refresh my memory of whats happened in the old games and what happens in Peace walker.
Legend_in_blue Posted 3 September 2015 Share Posted 3 September 2015 Just completed mission 6. Absolutely fantastic. I spent so long knocking out guards and hunting down all the supplies I could find on the way to the main point of interest, the mission took over 24 hours in game time. Won't spoil it for others, but the final location was excellently put together. Superb game design.
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 3 September 2015 Share Posted 3 September 2015 Agreed. The 6th mission was brilliant, very tricky though, I only managed a B.
