GLC Posted 25 August 2015 Posted 25 August 2015 Anyone getting this? Getting amazing reviews from everyone! I can't wait to play it!
Legend_in_blue Posted 25 August 2015 Posted 25 August 2015 Had this on pre order since May. It only cost £35, think I've bagged a bargain! Playing through Ground Zeros again just to get used to the controls, good practice. New trailer out today, looks class. Can't wait. It will be the best game on consoles this year.
Libertine Posted 25 August 2015 Posted 25 August 2015 Gagging for it but still not got a PS4. Might end up waiting til Xmas...Â
The Horse's Mouth Posted 25 August 2015 Posted 25 August 2015 I'm not convinced, but I'll definitely pick it up because it's MGS
Legend_in_blue Posted 25 August 2015 Posted 25 August 2015 Launch trailer... Has it really been 17 years? Feeling old watching this! That MG looks huge though, slightly out of place with the future MG games in ther series. Psycho Mantis up high?
IOWFOX Posted 26 August 2015 Posted 26 August 2015 Simply games dispatched mine at 8 this morning, 1st class delivery and all for just under 40 quid. Hurry up tomorrow!
Legend_in_blue Posted 26 August 2015 Posted 26 August 2015 Simply games dispatched mine at 8 this morning, 1st class delivery and all for just under 40 quid. Hurry up tomorrow!  Mine also! £34.85 thoughÂ
RoboFox Posted 26 August 2015 Posted 26 August 2015 As convoluted and ridiculous as they are, I love the MGS games. Considering buying a new generation console just for this. Â Will never be as good as the first. Â Agreed to a certain extent, but I think that's a lot of nostalgia talking, the others are still great in their own right... Even MGS4 which has so much convoluted bollocks-talking it's borderline boring.
Alexikokopops Posted 26 August 2015 Posted 26 August 2015 I didn't play MGS3 or 4 but would like to play this. Is there a danger of me not understanding anything? They love a convoluted story they do
kingcarr21 Posted 26 August 2015 Posted 26 August 2015 Still not sure about the open world aspect but after seeing the trailer and reading reviews im sure i will pick this up at some point
Legend_in_blue Posted 26 August 2015 Posted 26 August 2015 I didn't play MGS3 or 4 but would like to play this. Is there a danger of me not understanding anything? They love a convoluted story they do MGS4 doesn't matter, it's the last one in the timeline. MGS3 does matter, if you want the background on Big Boss' story, although some will say go through Peace Walker as well, which serves as a direct prequel to this one. I havent played PW but there's plenty of wiki info out there if you want to catch up on the convoluted storyline that way. Snake Eater was excellent, I have copies of this and MGS2 still knocking around somewhere.
Sharpe's Fox Posted 26 August 2015 Posted 26 August 2015 yah you gotta play Snake Eater Alexi its ace. Don't know if you've got an old PS3 knocking about but i'd recommend this: Â http://www.amazon.co.uk/Metal-Gear-Solid-HD-Collection/dp/B0058H1YOG
Legend_in_blue Posted 26 August 2015 Posted 26 August 2015 I've tried to get PW working through an Android psp emulator but it won't load it up.

I've got an Xbox 360 so I might buy that and play through it before getting number 5! Reminisce with a bit of MGS2 as well. It's a shame I haven't got a PS One lying around for the first one.

I'll probably look at getting this. Thing is that I haven't played the MGS series since Snake Eater so I'm hoping that this one isn't straight from the last one else I won't know what the hell is going on story-wise.
Beliall Posted 26 August 2015 Posted 26 August 2015 Waiting I think. Mg online not coming to pc till next year, so I may wait till then. Unless sainsburies do an offer on the console version , that would be hard to pass up
Legend_in_blue Posted 26 August 2015 Posted 26 August 2015 Slightly off the main topic but I reckon this is up there with the greatest sound track of any game on any gaming platform ever... Â https://youtu.be/QvEDSkK3GQU Â Â Back in the day there was nothing quite like this. Â Harry Gregson-Williams take a bow!Â
Legend_in_blue Posted 27 August 2015 Posted 27 August 2015 It's here. I'll post up some initial impressions later on.
Legend_in_blue Posted 27 August 2015 Posted 27 August 2015 Yes I agree. I've never seen anything like it before in a video game, Kojima written all over it. It's excellent.
IOWFOX Posted 27 August 2015 Posted 27 August 2015 Even the pre menu scene was a treat. Up untill today far cry 3 was the best start/introduction to a game but this just went a step beyond.
Legend_in_blue Posted 27 August 2015 Posted 27 August 2015 Yes, true. I won't divulge too much because I don't want to spoil it for others. It's safe to say that it's pretty damn good though. The first episode is the greatest introduction to any game I've seen.
