Leicester's internationals 2015/16

Recommended Posts

Japan's World Cup qualifier v. Afghanistan kicks off at 1. 25 pm UK time.

Shinji will probably start. It seems Yoshinori Muto, the guy who replaced him at Mainz, might lose his place after a disappointing game v Cambodia last week. Shinji didn't score either, but looked pretty sharp and got reasonable reviews in the press afterwards.

Look out for the wonderfully named 'Mustafa Zazai' of Afghanistan. If his first name is shortened to 'Muzzy', he would be challenging Izzet's world 'z' record.

Gökhan Inler could be part of the starting line-up against England tonight - manager Petkovic alluded to "two or three changes" following the less than convincing performance against Slovenia (during the first 80 minutes).

Either Dzemaili or Xhaka will have to make way again.

Haven't seen Inler play.

Is he a box-to-box midfielder, like King, or more of a deep-lying one?

He's not as quick or as mobile as Kanté - but that's as much down to age as it is down to his height and playing style.

I wouldn't consider him a "box-to-box" type of midfielder, as he tends to secure the back line more often than he roams the opposing box. But that doesn't mean that he doesn't go forward during attacks.

However, I'd love him to come up with more attempts on goal at Leicester. He used to do that regularly whilst he was at Udinese (and to an extent, in his early Napoli days).

Second half just starting.

Shinji couldn't score against Cambodia (rank 180).

Vardy coudn't score against San Marino (rank 192)

Now Shinji hasn't scored against Afghanistan (rank 130)

Let's hope they're saving it for Villa...
