Spudulike Posted 28 September 2015 Posted 28 September 2015 Wasn't he one of those implicated in the 1999 League Cup final ticket selling scandal along with Cottee ?? Bad day.
Long Eaton Fox Posted 28 September 2015 Posted 28 September 2015 Poor player in a good team. If he had been replaced and the rest of the team kept together, we would have been top 6. O'Neil left with Heskey and Collymore broke his leg and the rest is history
Guest Posted 28 September 2015 Posted 28 September 2015 He was pretty crap really. Had a great delivery on his day but that was a very rare occasion indeed. He tried though.
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 28 September 2015 Posted 28 September 2015 Remember being a mascot at Filbert street, think we were playing Watford at home. Before the game me and the other mascot was asked who our fave players was to have a picture with once the warm up was done. I of course chose Steve Guppy, but the other mascot chose Andy Impey. Guppy came straight over and took a few pics with me and my dad, but Impey ran straight by this other lad and said to the him 'it was too fvcking cold to stay out' and ran down the tunnel. Tosser.
Vardinhio Posted 28 September 2015 Posted 28 September 2015 In one game he made two hilarious backwards headers when trying to stretch to head away long throw-ins, the first one nearly scoring an own goal, the second nearly setting up a striker. He then got bollocked by Taggs and never did it again. Most famous for having no neck and for the Izzet cross v Grimsby.
Footballwipe Posted 29 September 2015 Posted 29 September 2015 1. His cross V Grimsby to set up Izzet for his famous overhead kick 2. Him kissing a lady in the crowd after scoring against Middlesbrough at Filbert Street. What a smoothie https://youtu.be/YJu85xfOQQ4?t=57m14s
Guest Mee-9 Posted 29 September 2015 Posted 29 September 2015 He's got really fat Thanks for that Geoff.
BrummieFOX Posted 29 September 2015 Posted 29 September 2015 I'm sure it was Impey who did this. At Filbert St, a ref gave a throw in to us, when it was quite clearly a goal kick right by the corner flag. So Impey stood on the byline and pretended to take the throw-in from there. Ahh the laughs we had at Filbo.
city187 Posted 29 September 2015 Posted 29 September 2015 Ever seen a boy born without a neck? yes am glad someone else noticed his lack of space between his head and body. Am sure his neck must be a couple of cm at most. No neck but decent for city
Rob1742 Posted 29 September 2015 Posted 29 September 2015 Met him at QPR a few seasons ago. It was half time and I was with an ex Leicester player who took me over to meet him. He was there with a lady and as I was introduced to them, I thought I would share the fact that Imps always gets a mention when Matt Elliott does his Q&A's. It went something like this. "Matt Elliott always mentions you when he does a Q&A" I said. "Oh really, what does he say" said Imps, with a wide grin on his face showing his gold tooth. "He always says what a massive cock you have" was my reply. I laughed, as did the ex player I was with, but Imps just looked a bit puzzled. Since found out it was Jamie Lawrence that Matt Elliott mentions so I got the player completely wrong. Nice chap though, I then had a nice chat with Martin ONeill, but toned it down a bit and just spoke about the game.
Jon the Hat Posted 29 September 2015 Posted 29 September 2015 Was it Andy Impey who when he signed was asked by a TV crew in front of the Carling stand what he thought of the club and looked over his shoulder and said "looks alright"? Or am I imagining things. .
Kevin_Yahoo Posted 2 October 2015 Author Posted 2 October 2015 Many thanks for your help guys - the piece is now published: https://uk.sports.yahoo.com/news/blast-past-no-9-andy-110646704.html I credited the site for quotes rather than individual posters as that gets a bit too messy. Feel free to share far and wide if you like it! (and if you don't, just abuse me here) Cheers again, Kevin
coatsworth999 Posted 2 October 2015 Posted 2 October 2015 working at filbert street as a student and one day I had to work in the leicester players box. The injured players were in there watching the game with friends and family. I remember leicester scored a last minute goal and i was just clearing the table and so was right next to them, every other injured players celebrated, apart from Impey, he just stood there with his mate, nothing, no emotion, not even a smile... Since that moment I never rated him, regardless of what he did on the pitch, then about three months later the scandal broke where he sold his tickets at wembley, to spurs fans (i think) and that cemented my opinion on him.
Vardinhio Posted 2 October 2015 Posted 2 October 2015 Thanks for the article Kevin I enjoyed reading it.
