Union FS Posted 19 November 2015 Posted 19 November 2015 Just to be clear, this isn't Union FS calling a boycott... http://www.unionfs.co.uk/trips-to-merseyside.html Union FS Statement - Trips to Merseyside Football is a simple game, played out thousands of times each day. Players kick a ball around for 90 minutes. Fans turn up. They cheer, they sing, they stand and then they go home. Or at least that's what should happen. Since the summer, Union FS and our counterparts at Everton - Blue Union - have been in mutual discussions with our respective clubs regarding the potential for a reciprocal ticket pricing arrangement that would hopefully benefit a few thousand Scousers and City fans. Both Unions were of the opinion that talks had been positive, and the chances of finding a deal to bring some Christmas spirit to supporters of Leicester City at Goodison Park were fairly good. It is with regret that this deal has apparently not been found. As such, Leicester City fans will travel to Merseyside twice in a week either side of Christmas and pay up to £86 for the apparent privilege. At Anfield, City fans will shell out £45 for a 'severely restricted' view. Particularly galling is the fact home fans will pay almost 10% less for restricted tickets on their 'Kop'. So much for equivalent pricing for similar views. Many Union FS members, and Leicester fans in general, will refuse to pay that level of money for a standard league game. Others will simply not be able to afford either or both of the games mentioned, and of course many more will pay anything to watch the boys in blue. Fortunately for those not travelling, we have been presented with another option. The FA Youth Cup, in which our youngsters did us so proud last term, has drawn us at home to Cheltenham Town (who beat Barnet 3-2 having been 2-0 down) in the third round with a 7pm kick off scheduled for Saturday 19 December (TBC). We would encourage every City fan not attending Goodison Park to make the effort to watch our lads start another (hopefully) successful campaign at Filbert Way. Full fixture and ticket details are expected to be released soon and Union FS will be in attendance. It's the same simple game. Just at a fraction of the cost. In hope of a more socially inclusive sport, Union FS
4ever and ever Posted 19 November 2015 Posted 19 November 2015 Such a shame that you go to all that effort for a reciprocal ticket deal and it then doesn't happen. I will be at Goodison and Anfield, because: a) I am very fortunate to be able to afford it. And b) I'm addicted to this club. I support everything you are trying to do with ticket prices and hope you get more success in other deals. All the best. Ben
AndWhat? Posted 19 November 2015 Posted 19 November 2015 Will be at the youth cup game. Should be a good laugh with it being a Saturday night!

Countesthorpe Fox 1884 Posted 20 November 2015 Posted 20 November 2015 Will be there. Looking forward to it. Let's get them one step further this year!
Soup Posted 20 November 2015 Posted 20 November 2015 Gutted as it's the day I go on my hols. Having been earlier in the year to one of these games I would've definitely gone again. It was a good laugh and being on Saturday this time has potential.

C-man Posted 20 November 2015 Posted 20 November 2015 Youth Cup games were a great laugh last year - great opportunity if it is confirmed for the Saturday 7pm! Has all day session written all over it!
Voll Blau Posted 20 November 2015 Posted 20 November 2015 Well up for this. Big all dayer in town then give the youth lads some support.
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 20 November 2015 Posted 20 November 2015 Real shame that a reciprocal deal couldn't be struck, Youth Cup should be a laugh though!
SystonFox Posted 20 November 2015 Posted 20 November 2015 Not being funny or owt but why does it matter if we are travelling to Liverpool twice in a week? It'd make no difference if we had Liverpool away then Saints away would it? Football is always gonna b expensive nowadays. Regardless of the oppo

Ozwin Posted 20 November 2015 Posted 20 November 2015 Forgiv my ignorance but how do the Germans do tickets for so cheap? Does their government subsidise football over there or something?
Voll Blau Posted 20 November 2015 Posted 20 November 2015 Forgiv my ignorance but how do the Germans do tickets for so cheap? Does their government subsidise football over there or something? No. Supporter pressure keeps prices low. People refuse to go if the prices are higher and the clubs respect how much a vibrant atmosphere can benefit their team.

C-man Posted 21 November 2015 Posted 21 November 2015 It's a genuine question. The point isn't that it is Liverpool twice in a week it's that the prices are fvcking awful. The fact it is over Christmas, a financially challenging time of year for most, is more relevant. The attitude that fans should just accept high ticket prices, with minimal concessions, fvcks me off more than anything to be quite frank. For over 25 years fans have just let this happen. It's the same attitude as Scudamore has - proven by his point the other day that pricing was fine because the average fan could afford the occasional game. Horrendous way of thinking. Fortunately now there are a few groups across the country who care enough about future fans to actually try and make a difference.
