Guest Sharpe's Fox Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Doesn't matter if we were top or fighting off relegation, we didn't put in the performance to either hold on to or build on a lead against the worst side in the league. It's very poor no matter where you are.
Jimothy Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Aye, truth. But we're all allowed to stew, right? Sucks to draw with relegation zone Aston Villa. It's does suck, but Man City went to Villa Park in the middle of Villa's terrible run and came away with a 0-0, so you know these things happen. Arsenal went to Southampton in the middle of a poor run for the Saints and got thumped 4-0. Take each game as it comes, look at why you didn't get the result you wanted and move on and try and improve next time.

stillwater Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Wonder how many teams fans where saying exactly the same thing as you lot last year when we went on our winning spree to drag us out of the relegation struggle. Get a reality check, we have exceeded all expectation so far this year, some of you weren't moaning this much when NP was serving us up defeat after defeat last year. Just enjoy the ride
Countryfox Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Shows how far we have come. We are top but not happy. WE NEED TO MOVE THE GOALPOSTS!! We are not fighting relegation? We are fighting atm for the title/champions league? Short term targets in the transfer market need to change... We need more quality now? Not kids, proven quality IF this season is not going to end up disappointing? I agree and think we missed the boat with Austin and Shelvey .... Of course we will never know but I'm convinced they would have made a definite impact. The price they both went for was a steal imo. However, they've gone so like you say we need others asap.
Stan Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Villa will take points off others for the rest of the season, as they are playing for their footballing lives. Hopefully we will have a right good moan, dust ourselves off, and move on. This was a local derby, so it was never going to be as easy as people were making out. What annoyed me today was Shinji coming off early, and Vardy pointing rather than pressing (although it isn't his fault he isn't fit). Check. And some of those points may be handy for us.
Dr The Singh Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Check. And some of those points may be handy for us. Or may not be, hence we needed to take our future intonour own hands and win
Rincewind Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Villa had a win in the week so had a little more confidence and belief in themselves. They did what a lot of teams do struggling at the bottom of the table do, upped their game against a top of the table side. We did last season from around this time.
Countryfox Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Can see where you are going and even though the mighty gooners only managed a draw ..... We still should have won !!!! (I'll be alright by tomorrow).
Thracian Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 We're top of the league, we have 3 points more than last year with 16 games in hand, we are definitely staying up and even when we play horrendous football we still get a point away. Anyone would think we just got thrashed 6-0 by Yeovil based on the reactions on here. If you could sit back and stomach that shit without any reaction you've got my lasting admiration. Me, I felt gutted to the core.
Great Boos Up Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 My perspective is: we were looking to stay in this league this season with 40 points and Villa are shite and we couldn't win. I can take missing Europe but I couldn't take not helping to send them down.
Pasty1 Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 If we had draw at Spurs and won here... we'd be happy.... Still 4 points....

Fridgechef Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 If we had draw at Spurs and won here... we'd be happy.... Still 4 points.... This is incredibly true.

Yes, if we'd whacked in a proper penalty for 2-0 well before half-time they'd have had stacks of confidence! Most of the game Villa were rank and showed no more imagination than am amoeba. Gradually they sniffed a half-chance and we invited them on by voluntarily falling further and further back into negativity mode.
fuchsntf Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Perspective starts to get boring...you can't go back to "perspective" every time we play badly....it's about time we realised that we actually have a realistic chance to win the league or finish in the top four.......we HAVE to beat shit like Villa....period.Papa Schmeichel put it really into perspective, on Sky after the Arsenal game...You and many are taking things has said...All the top teams have and will go into dips dropping unexpected points against lower teams. We in contrast, dont have the same experience has these top teams, when dips come. but we have belief(players) that we can go out and win. He thought the so called dip of the 5 games, is over exaggerated. Such games or periods are part of the season and silly criticism, and even now, take a look at the league, we are still in the mix, despite dropping of points and form. There are no shit teams on the Individual day, they also always show, they can mix it occasionally. We dont have the right to be brilliant every game, how many times have we put the breaks on top teams in the past seasons. In fact look what we are doing this season from nothing, from our squad. Because the team have grasped a chance of taking a certain amount of initiative in a top four chase, why frustrate and stress yourself out, by being illogical, by bringing out bog standard statements that the rule of football has never followed.. 'We should beat such n such teams..blah blah blah' This is our 1st attempt with this type of players of real unknowns, who be honest are suprising their own fans. Perspective, expectations, dreams, broken or live and actual are still being played out. Jumping off because you cant take it, or even understand it , is just downright silly. These same players some are dissing off, are the same ones, who have fought for and allowed us to believe and got us to this position.Just like the so called big boys we will have our nightmares. FFS enjoy it, dont set expectations you didnt or dared to dream of 5 months ago...its boring

No we need to accumulate more point then the other 19 teams, it doesn't matter who they come against. In the last 51 days we have played 10 games league and cup, 6 away from home, meaning more travelling and less time to spend on recovery a tough ask for a small squad who game is based on work rate and pace! 4 wins 5 draws and 1 lost is good going over a period when we traditional struggle in!
