Benguin Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 We're top of the league, we have 3 points more than last year with 16 games in hand, we are definitely staying up and even when we play horrendous football we still get a point away. Anyone would think we just got thrashed 6-0 by Yeovil based on the reactions on here.

Anyone would think we just got thrashed 6-0 by Yeovil based on the reactions on here. But we we're in a winning position against the worst team in the league and we didn't win! We should have won by 3 clear goals and the fact we only got a point, shows why most of us aren't happy with it.
old koppite Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Against a team who got their first win under the new manager in mid week, know they have to win most of their games to stay up, and whose manager obviously came them the hairdryer treatment at half time! They came out second half ready to battle for every thing, we were below par and they fought for a draw in a terrible match. Just forget it and move on

But we're all allowed to stew, right? Sucks to draw with relegation zone Aston Villa.
LCFC95 Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 It's just a bit frustrating, nothing more. On to the next!
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 I think the problem is the "playing horrendous football" part. We have shown from the start of the season what we are capable of, and today was a big bollock dropped against probably the worst team this league has seen since Derby stank the place out 8 years ago. The bigger picture is still good but today was a shitstain We need to come up with a solid plan B quickly, February sees us play Liverpool, Man City and Arsenal in succession - we take points off any 2 of them and European football will look a really achievable target. Play like we have done recently and we could get battered 3 games in a row, and that'd put a huge dent in the team's confidence Hate to be negative but today was a great chance to get scoring again and it was a very concerning overall performance
trabuch Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 First of all - it's awesome that we are upset at going top of the league (think about it). Secondly - Vardy should be taking penalties. Thirdly - that was Ranieri's worst performance of the season. Fourth wise - Was should replace Huth for a bit.
Guest MarshallForEngland Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Hang on a minute, I've just checked the BBC website and he's right, we are top of the league. In light of this new information of which I was hitherto unaware, I see no reason to critically analyse our performances from now on and I encourage everybody else to join me.
shailen Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 It's a good sign. It shows how far we have come as a club that we expect to win every game. I am pleased people feel disappointed but we are not going to win every game, and you have to expect one or two hiccups from every team in this league. Regardless of what anyone says, there is no easy game in the PL and we have no right to win any game, but it's nice to see the players have prepped up the expectations of fans to the point where we are expected to win all the time

It's late and I'm too tired to work out if you're being sarky, but think you probably are . So a question, if we manage to win the league, but our performances from now are poor ( grind out lucky , boring 1 goal wins) will you still want to critically analyse , or just be happy?

He is being sarky. Good question btw. I am happy that we will be in the premier league next season. I admit that I will be a bit disappointed if we aren't playing in the champions league next year - but that's bonkers. Imagine that - Leicester in the champions league. Tomorrow I will be cheering on Stoke because they are playing against one of our rivals for the title.
hejammy Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 I think the point is that we didn't play well, we didn't have a plan B, Vardy seems to lack the sharpness he had which may be understandable post op. Mahrez I'm not sure about, he's either become really over confident or lost all his confidence. I think the latter as he didn't try any tricks, didn't go on any runs etc. It's like we are going back to the "early 2014 team" We need something fresh, perhaps something new. As much as shinji puts in the graft I don't think he's potent enough in front of goal, we need a goalscorer that will receive some pressure on Vards.
Vardinio'sCat Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Villa will take points off others for the rest of the season, as they are playing for their footballing lives. Hopefully we will have a right good moan, dust ourselves off, and move on. This was a local derby, so it was never going to be as easy as people were making out. What annoyed me today was Shinji coming off early, and Vardy pointing rather than pressing (although it isn't his fault he isn't fit).
mozartfox Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 From 'hopes' of Premiership survival to the disappointment of going top of the league after a draw away at Aston Villa, God how some people have indeed lost perspective is quite extraordinary. Had we drawn at Tottenkane and beaten Villa yesterday, I guess the air of disappointment would be somewhat thinner??
Callabinho Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Perspective starts to get boring...you can't go back to "perspective" every time we play badly....it's about time we realised that we actually have a realistic chance to win the league or finish in the top four.......we HAVE to beat shit like Villa....period.
Fox 4 Life Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 It's late and I'm too tired to work out if you're being sarky, but think you probably are . So a question, if we manage to win the league, but our performances from now are poor ( grind out lucky , boring 1 goal wins) will you still want to critically analyse , or just be happy? I think the point is, if we keep playing like we have since Liverpool there is no chance whatsoever we win the league.
Drew Peacock Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 I agree with the OP and just had a look at the league table, the morning after the night before. Can you imagine being shown a picture of this table at the beginning of last August? I haven't felt this bad after a game for a long time though. Perspective is one thing, but it is human nature to live in the present as well. This is a game we should have won. When you have a great chance to go 2-0 up, and then could have given Villa a thrashing, everyone is disappointed. We are in a fantastic position, but through fatigue or whatever, we do seem to have lost a little spark. A few players seem off there game at the moment, and I still worry about the strength in depth of the squad, particularly up front. But it's another away point and only two league losses by the middle of January! That is Champions league form and the realistic aim for me rather than the title.
Ricey Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Perspective is irrelevant last night. Regardless of where we are in the league and how many points we currently have a poor performance like last nights coupled with throwing away a great chance to go 2-0 up is always going to be frustrating and worrying.

weller54 Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Mate Stoke are going to beat Arsenal , don't worry be happy.. And us next up if we play like we did against villa..
Fox92 Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 We're top of the league so we should have beat Aston Villa. And we had enough chances to beat them. We're top of the league but I can still be disappointed. Is every poor result going to be covered up with "but we're top of the league"?
crisp packet Posted 17 January 2016 Posted 17 January 2016 Shows how far we have come. We are top but not happy. WE NEED TO MOVE THE GOALPOSTS!! We are not fighting relegation? We are fighting atm for the title/champions league? Short term targets in the transfer market need to change... We need more quality now? Not kids, proven quality IF this season is not going to end up disappointing?

I hope so when we are absolutely shocking against Chelsea away and we're still saying it.
