I'm sure I read somewhere the other day the fiorentina chairman was on about suing us as we'd told them he was fully fit and ready to play, they took our word as they didn't have enough time to do a proper medical and it turns out he was injured, they apparently want to sue us to cover the loan costs and send him back.... I'll try and find the link

Surely, that's the reason you do medicals yourself (that and for insurance purposes).

 

If we took another club's word that a player was fit and that turned out not to be the case, I'd be pissed off with our staff for taking that risk.

Isn't it their due diligence to check these things?

I often hear the phrase 'after a medical' but rarely 'we couldn't be bothered to check so we thought whatever he'll be fine'.

I'd have him back now though, even injured, even if we have to pay: I miss those bizarre and beautiful lcfc tweets.

Someone's word doesn't mean all that much and you would assume they would do their own due dilligence, that or the risk is their own, but given the circumstances of the deal (late the last day), I would imagine that telling them Benny was fit when he was injured could well be judged to be deceitful. Strange.
