LCFC FOX Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 How old is he? Could be our future CB still. I think he's looked good the games he's played. Regular football at a good team will help him.
HoustonFox Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 We have Was, Amartey and potentially Fuchs and Chilwell who can step in at CB. Not too fussed to be honest
onekeithweller Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 He might get a look-in at a team in 3rd place in Serie A.
EnglishOxide Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 It's a strange one..... Hush or Wes get injured and we have one option, Waz ..... If 2 defenders are injured we don't have a back up right back or CB. Leaves us light I think. You are forgetting about Amartey. I think Fuchs can also play CB as well, leaving Chilwell and Schluup to cover LB.
Donut Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 He cost nearly 6 million and never played. Terrible signing. Decent player, who couldnt break into a top of the league team who had a mostly consistent back 4 choice. Wouldnt say he was a terrible signing at all, a decent player who wants games.
Sharpe's Fox Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 If you're spending one million quid for every start (in competitions that we got nowhere in) it's not a good signing. Doesn't matter how good you are if you're on your arse.

Doesn't matter how good you are if you're on your arse. That doesnt reflect on him. We have a settled back 4 with no need to rotate. His appearances have to be judged in the context he hasnt had a settled centre back partner, and the whole of the rest of the team for these games has been weaker. Despite that, his performance against West Ham in the league cup was pretty good, and away to Spurs he grew into the game well after a tricky start. He is for me as good a squad player as Wasilewski, but wants a game. I dont think that can be held against him.
STUHILL Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 Amartey and Was as cover then I guess. Would have kept Benny here until the end of the season but if he goes there to start and we can recall him, then not a bad move I spose! I think he would have been decent enough with a proper run in the side but Wes and Huth have been stupendous this season!
gurru991 Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 You are forgetting about Amartey. I think Fuchs can also play CB as well, leaving Chilwell and Schluup to cover LB. Chilwell is out on loan I believe & not available
UPinCarolina Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 Chilwell is out on loan I believe & not available My understanding was that Chillwell was unrecoverable only if we were paid for the loan OR it was a full season loan. It looks like we will loan him out again, but I believe we have the right of recall.

I know what you're saying Donut, but if he showed he was better than Huth or Morgan he'd be playing for us now. We aren't in any cup games, so he's been loaned out because we don't need him. He would have been our 5th choice CB, so I can't see him coming back, he'll be sold or loaned again in the summer.
MC Prussian Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 People slating another player who has hardly featured thanks to others in his position performing better or being the manager's first choice shocker. Come on, it's getting a bit tedious now with the type of demands or expectations from some of our fans. I thought, despite a rocky start, the last few appearances of Benalouane have shown what a great player he can be. He's tall, versatile, with a good positioning sense, anticipation and surprisingly speedy. I wish him well at Fiorentina and I do hope that we can end the chapter on a high note. They're a quality Italian side with a progressive-thinking manager at the helm (yes, I do know it wouldn't work out for you at Leicester, Paulo). Either we cash in on Benalouane at the end of the season with a permanent transfer or he comes back a better player - and maybe with a bit more grit, too.
MC Prussian Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 Poor signing. That attitude is exactly what I mean. Terrible.
MikeyT Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 He looked ok to me when he played. Certainly not a bad signing I don't think. Either way, all the best to him on loan.
The Doctor Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 Looked quite good in his cup games, obviously signed with three at the back in mind. Having a big clear out and taking us down to about 20 first team options seems ridiculous at this point though.
AKCJ Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 Let this be a lesson to us to stop buying squad players and start buying players who are clear upgrades in our first team. oh yeah because we've clearly suffered by bringing him in... some of you lot really are pathetic.
Koke Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 Decent enough player. He did well against West Ham and Spurs in the cups. I was surprised to see Wasilewski play instead of Benny against Everton when Huth was suspended. Unfortunately for him we have a settled back four, and with no more cup games he probably wouldn't see a single minute of game time for the rest of the season.
Guest Col city fan Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 Personally I think it's strange we are reducing an already smallish squad. Don't really get offloading Delaet either to be honest. I guess we are out of both the cups so we only have the league games to play. Fair enough we didn't sign anyone else but letting others go seems a little strange. It only needs a couple of bad injuries and we look a little thin in terms of numbers.

CloudFox Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 I suppose there's always a recall option in all three cases, so I wouldn't worry that much. Yeah, this does ease my worries a bit too. Not sure I agree with either Ritchie or Benny going out on loan as I think they are great competition, but hopefully we can recall them if needs be.
Daz93 Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 Liam Moore is back from his loan, which means with him and Wasyl we have two centre backs for cover. Added to that Amartey can play centre back and doesn't look as if Wes/Huth are ever going to get displaced from the team, it makes sense to loan him out if he wants playing time.
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 Good luck to him, I personally thought on the basis of games I seen him play, he's looked decent and was solid enough in his performances. Especially West Ham in the cup, he was superb that night.
Arriba Los Zorros Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 I think its a shame as I like the look of Benalouane. However, our club being a long-term outfit planning ahead, I'm sure this is with future seasons in mind to give him some playing time. Whilst he can't dislodge Wes and Big Rob now, they are nearing the end of their careers and Benny will only get better with experience, I reckon he'll be our first choice CB soon

He is for me as good a squad player as Wasilewski, but wants a game. I dont think that can be held against him. Well put. You could say that the loan deals, with Benny , RDL, even Kramaric are descisions where the manager, has set his stall out, spoke to the individual players, said we want you, your more than good enough, but because of teams success, you wont be 1st choice, not even a promised bench spot. We have seen through all clubs, there are players who are happy to waste their career, and stay years accepting Just a handfull of games. RDL and Benny , Krammy and Inler (to some extent), said no !! Most likely would like to stay, but are not wanting to sit the weekends out, all credit to them they want to play, even if it means leaving the present PL leaders, with Europe beckoning. Andy King in contrast is a good example of the perfect squad man.TBF if the others had his game turnaround they would probably have stayed.King is involved and gets regular game time. RDL sees his place has gone, again could be a good squad man, but wants to play also he might believe his time at city is over. That said if it wasnt the M'borough in top 5, would he have gone. Benny, who would of thought that Huth and Morgan, would stay injury free and more importantly keep their form at a consistent high level.Plus an ex-tinkerman as thrown old ideas on the scrapheap. Dare I say, if city was chasing top 10 or top 6, Benny would have played more.I hope we find in the summer a young CB, because next season we will need the CB positions being covered with quality. Inler, in any other team he would of probably been 1st choice, its his badluck that Kante has been immense, and our game, is not based on or around a 'ball holder' or someone occasionally slowing it down.
