Merging Cultures Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 As an outsider who is detached from all of it, i cant help but feel like the origins of the movement are entirely justified. Nothing makes my blood boil more than reading about the Boers and apartheid in general. Needless to say the movement then gets infiltrated and turned in a completely different direction to its ( probable)early good intentions.Definitely, it was awful, and it has really disadvantaged black people. But the way BEE has been implemented is completely wrong, and continued racism from both sides should not be tolerated at all.
Claridge Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 Can't you come up with another topic? It's not the 1980s
Finnegan Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 Can't you come up with another topic? It's not the 1980s This sort of attitude annoys me, I gotta be honest. I do dislike the professional attention seekers who have to be seen to be campaigning for every injustice going, they end damaging most causes, they do end up over stating racism and sexism and homophobia etc in contemporary western society. But, equally, claiming that it doesn't exist anymore is equally irritating and unhelpful.
Guest MattP Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 Certainly still exists, in so many different forms as well these days. As Balts said we've not got extremely anti-white groups like RMF coming to prominence and to a lesser extent Black lives matter. Celebrities like Beyonce are even now so comfortable with the thoughts of these groups they'll perform black power salutes and tributes to Malcolm X in front of millions. David Cameron is even prepared to lie about race to gain popularity as he did a few weeks ago with his accusation that more black people were in prison than at university.
Darkon84 Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 But the most fascinating 'experiment' was based around a bicycle locked up in a park. They showed a white kid trying to break the chain off. Got a few shifty looks and then they showed a black kid trying to break the chain off. Well he was obviously upto no good and got apprehended several times by member of the public and the police called on him too.... On the flip side, I saw a similar one not too long ago where they left an unchained bike in various locations and the vast majority of those who attempted to steal it were black.
Finnegan Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 Tell me Beyoncé hasn't given a black power salute. Oh no. That's just awful. That'd be like, I don't know, George Osborne wearing a Che Guevara tshirt or something.
Guest MattP Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 Superbowl half time show, a huge X and a black power salute. Coming from a mixed race person who was born into more privledge than 99% of the World.
Claridge Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 didn This sort of attitude annoys me, I gotta be honest.I do dislike the professional attention seekers who have to be seen to be campaigning for every injustice going, they end damaging most causes, they do end up over stating racism and sexism and homophobia etc in contemporary western society. But, equally, claiming that it doesn't exist anymore is equally irritating and unhelpful. Didn't say doesn't exist, just that it's boring

And has made probably literally billions cleverly marketing herself based almost exclusively off her appearance.
MPH Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 didn Didn't say doesn't exist, just that it's boring Oh so lets just not bother discussing it then if its boring? That will really help.
MPH Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 On the flip side, I saw a similar one not too long ago where they left an unchained bike in various locations and the vast majority of those who attempted to steal it were black. Do you remember seeing what country these various locations were in?
Claridge Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 Oh so lets just not bother discussing it then if its boring? That will really help. Help what? It's a subject that's been done to death and for an under graduate in 2016 it's a crap topic.cant it be on trans gender(yawn) or is that next weeks politically correct tosh
Merging Cultures Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 It's actually bubbling back up, but not from a white men calling people the n word angle. Instead it is RMF, BLM and other groups pushing back against 'whiteness' and being quite vocal in their racism towards whites. However, as I said, they believe whites still have all the power and so using the academic term for racism, they believe blacks can't be racist. Which is quite ridiculous.

It's a subject that's been done to death and for an under graduate in 2016 it's a crap topic.cant it be on trans gender(yawn) or is that next weeks politically correct tosh Well in case you hadn't realised, but there are still ignorant people in the world.... and on this forum..
Finnegan Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 Even if a person of an ethnic minority can't be "racist" by their own definition, they can still be a bigoted prejudiced twat.
Claridge Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 Even if a person of an ethnic minority can't be "racist" by their own definition, they can still be a racist, prejudiced twat. Had to go on a racial awareness course with work once,we all had to admit we were racist and work from there.confusing as fcuk for an Asian I can tell you.whities just piss themselves laughing if you try it
MPH Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 Even if a person of an ethnic minority can't be "racist" by their own definition, they can still be a racist, prejudiced twat. Of course, in Africa the black people there would not be the ethnic minority, the white people would most likely be the Ethnic minority.... I'm being a boblet, sorry...
GaelicFox Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 The biggest problem with race relations for me is popular black culture continuing the negative stereotype of black people In effect for me The gheto chic ,gangster glam reinforces Negative black stereotyping

Darkon84 Posted 18 February 2016 Posted 18 February 2016 Do you remember seeing what country these various locations were in? Nah, I don't really care to be honest, I was simply giving an opposite view for the hell of it
Guest MattP Posted 18 February 2016 Posted 18 February 2016 Get in the bin It's a comment made by the current president of the United states !!!! Who is Black It always makes me laugh how people often react totally different to the same opinions when put forward by different people. They did an experiment in the Telegraph in about 2008 where they asked random people if they agreed with comments on multiculturalism failing, the exact same paragraph was put to people as what Trevor Phillips (black guy, chairman of CRE) and Nick Griffin (white, BNP chairman) had said. The response to Phillips was fairly positive with a slight majority agreeing with what he stated, the response to exactly the same paragraph when told it was from Nick Griffin received virtually unanimous condemnation.
Claridge Posted 18 February 2016 Posted 18 February 2016 It's a comment made by the current president of the United states !!!! Who is Black The most blatant piece of racism ever was his election. Wave after wave of people on the news saying they voted for him because of the colour of his skin.
