It always makes me laugh how people often react totally different to the same opinions when put forward by different people.

They did an experiment in the Telegraph in about 2008 where they asked random people if they agreed with comments on multiculturalism failing, the exact same paragraph was put to people as what Trevor Phillips (black guy, chairman of CRE) and Nick Griffin (white, BNP chairman) had said.

The response to Phillips was fairly positive with a slight majority agreeing with what he stated, the response to exactly the same paragraph when told it was from Nick Griffin received virtually unanimous condemnation.

But that is to be expected, we put the experiences of the speaker into our interpretation. When a Leicester City season ticket holder is giving his views on how to improve the team I am more likely to try and see it from his point of view and accept his ideas, than an Arsenal fan who only watched us on Sunday who will just be told to fvck off even if he is saying the same thing.

It is not just words that hold meaning.

The biggest problem with race relations for me is popular black culture continuing the negative stereotype of black people

In effect for me The gheto chic ,gangster glam reinforces Negative black stereotyping

It is clearly not the biggest problem, I wouldn't even say it is solely a black issue, there are plenty of negative stereotypes within white and Asian popular culture.

There are plenty of positive black role models in popular culture, but that "gangster" image is a prevalent one and serves only to reinforce existing prejudices, but I don't think it creates new ones.

The issue there is that you are looking at it from a 'white cultural perspective'. The 'wokeness' movement says that people don't want to be judged by someone else's cultural norms.

It's a comment made by the current president of the United states !!!! Who is Black lol

Some people might argue that he is pandering to a 'white dominated culture' that doesn't value or respect black culture for what it is.

Nah, I don't really care to be honest, I was simply giving an opposite view for the hell of it lol

The only reason i was asking is because, say, if it was over here in the states, well traditionally speaking the majority of Black people Live in a high poverty area ( for various reasons) and high poverty areas are often linked to high crime rates So that's probably not really a 'black' problem but more of a poverty/ crime problem maybe?

I definitely understand where you're coming from, in fact I watched a video the day on Jane Elliott and her notorious 'Brown Eye, Blue Eye' exercise. Very interesting watch and it was disappointing how many (white) people were still in denial about the societal advantage they have. A mixed race guy explained how he went out his way to sound and act as if he was White British to avoid stereotypes, and how he avoided picking his daughter up from school (whose mother was white and was fair skinned for a mixed heritage girl) to avoid prejudices towards her daughter, as he reckoned most people at the school thought she was white. A white woman who was apparently a teacher compared this to her husband having to wear a suit for his job when he preferred dressing casually. The most chilling thing from it was that she was a school teacher and when a black girl fell over and scraped herself she was surprised she was pink underneath! It was recorded about five years ago!

Watching it now on youtube, cringing how some of the white folk involved are so reticent to even carry out the exercise and discuss the issue. Likening it to something like choosing how to cut your hair or what clothes to wear for work wtaf.  Just got to the bit where the teacher lady insists that the experiment is unfair because she's a really nice non-racist lady so being marginalised for arbitrary reasons just makes her feel bad and that's wrong.  Fuching whoosh.  Feel awful for the black lady who tried getting the point through to them and somehow held her composure the entire way through the whole thing.

Really? Maybe we are different but I would always analyse what someone has said rather than analyse the person who said it.

A LCFC season ticket is just as likely to talk shit as anyone else in my experience.

I remember when i worked in a special needs school quite some time ago now a few of us were sent on some multicultural awareness training.  . Conversation got onto toys and dolls specifically how most dolls were white babies blond hair and all that and how really that didnt represent the country we live in. Well there were a couple of ladies sitting at a table opposite me with a face like a slapped arse so i asked them what was up?

They simply said in the area they lived in in Northern Ireland they only had white kids so there wasnt any need for that kind of thing and in fact, it was really a waste of time them being here.

Like a red rag to a bull, mate.

I would say you are the exception, most people are influenced by the source, subconsciously or otherwise, you can't help it, people come with an agenda and if you know that agenda when you read something they say you distort it to fit your pre-conceptions.

I see it plenty of times on here, including by you (you will interpret something from Rincewind in a different way to Finnegan for example) and in response to you, I do it myself if I see you have posted I am more likely to read it and try and understand your point of view than I would some of the more overtly right wing and frothing posters.

I'd say that's because Finners would articulate the point far better than Rincewind would.

The example I gave was two identical paragraphs of text.

Course it does every time someone here's NWA for the first time potentially has a prejudice imprinted for the first time

It was a paraphrase of something Obama said when he was in Chicago back in the day

In today's Britain there are laws which are strictly effected against every kind of racism except anti-white racism.

Where white males are concerned they are being subtly or systematically downgraded in a racial sense at every opportunity and in a multitude of ways.

In the workplace, through the media, even through the use of positive discrimination which is, whatever label they use use, is legalised discrimination, therefore openly acknowledged discrimination but discrimination just the same.

That should at least give you a start. The research shouldn't be hard.

Think the White male will be extinct soon

Jane Elliot is brilliant. Her older experiments are astounding how kids turn on each other so quickly. I can imagine in the US adults do too. We are bit too reserved at times to make group experiments work.

That school teacher. Wow. She has no idea and want listening at all. But it really is difficult for us to understand how privileged we are.

Fear of a black planet. But there will always be ginger haired people :)

You ever been to St Davids Island in Bermuda Boosy ?      The locals there are very different to all the others on Bermuda ...   they have red hair.

That's what I said! there will always be red haired people. Genetics! In 2000 years we will all be the same light brown colour and ginger people will be pulled over by police and stopped in the street for a random body search.

Not been to St David's Island but lived in the Bahamas for a year at 16. You get around the world a bit, you must be loaded. Get a box seat and invite your old mate Boosey! :D

Not quite, true I know someone being prosecuted a for racism against a white person!!!!

Saying that racism impacts mostly a minority, they are the ones that tend to suffer

Maybe one should do a study in say, Goa India, and see racism there, i'm sure there would be more racism against whites, cus they are a minority and i'm sure those on Goa would moan against those that are racist against them.

The fact is, minorities have alot larger racist cases then those of the majority, hence more highlighted and acted upon
