Thracian Posted 26 February 2016 Posted 26 February 2016 Just reflecting really, but would it be possible to start a new political movement right here on Foxestalk, Leicester and see it grow to be the most powerful voice for the less fortunate ever known in the UK? It would need immediate impact, so what about the Vulva Movement - as in Vulnerables' Vehicle (for) Action. It would be committed, unambiguously, to helping those too weak (in various ways) to help themslves and to doing everything possible to give those people the different lifelines of hope they need. That help would involve education, lifestyle and phychological guidance/strengthening, bridging opportunities, medical help, work opportunities, travel assistance, practical assistance and a real desire to help the weak gain the strength to be an asset to themselves and those around them. There would be no hidden political agenda such as "class war" or "positive discrimination". Every country needs earners and sound economics to provide the means to offer help and everyone should be treated fairly and respectfully as a matter of course, not because of their faith or colour. And it isn't just "the poor" who can experience times of weakness and vulnerability. The movement would simply exist to rid people in this country of as much despair as practically possible, "practically" being an important word in various ways. I've tried to do my bit as an individual but a little time or money doesn't always provide a lot of answers. And there's so much weighing in opposition that needs to be removed. There would need to be a firm charter of aims because any movement would need the means of fighting all efforts to compromise its values and intentions. But, having already been involved with two political parties (and simply not been able to remain out of conscience for all that I was encouraged by them), I really believe this country needs such a movement. A movement whose actions are based on a principle I've aired before of "what is fair". I see no reason why a fuller political involvement can't be based on the same outlook and don't even see many of the problems as being especially difficult to resolve on that basis. But, at all times, the movement would first stand for what can be done to best help people living here rather than anyone who might arrive in the future. And any future arrivals would reflect the country's needs, its potential welfare, the impact on infrastructure and our existing ability to help the problems already needing to be tackled. In other words the pace of immigration would be slowed - probably dramatically - until such time as our infrastructure was in a position to properly cope and we could be certain that those coming in would be genuinely intent on being of benefit to us. What I've mentioned is by way of embryo suggestion. It's not something I've been musing over for years and is already written in wet sand, let alone stone. Just a need that seems to be increasingly apparent as the weeks and months go on. Because Labour stands for next-to-nothing now as far as the UK's interests are concerned. Hell, it's leader doesn't even convince me he knows whether we should be in the EU or not and has actually voted or spoken in both directions. Labour (UK) needs to be dramatically reborn and that won't happen under the existing umbrella. It's way past that. The question I'm asking is whether something better can be moulded to take its place?
Manwell Pablo Posted 26 February 2016 Posted 26 February 2016 I'm in, on the proviso we name the party after Danny cadamarteri

DJ Barry Hammond Posted 26 February 2016 Posted 26 February 2016 Vulva Movement? Finally something I can get behind / into / etc.... Damn, I was going to ask Thrac if he was aware his acronym is a ladies part!
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 26 February 2016 Posted 26 February 2016 I had considered whether I had the balls to run as an independent candidate in a high profile seat somewhere under "Nun of the above" making public appearances in a habit and all that... Let's just say that ideas on hold for now!
Rincewind Posted 27 February 2016 Posted 27 February 2016 How about using the name I have for my Blood Bowl team? Malignant Parasites. We could dress up as Orcs.
