Agree with a lot of what people have said on here so far. If you want to go to games, you'll go to games, if you get a Santander (student) account to stick your loan in to you get a free rail card and that saves you a fortune.

Both Nottingham and Manchester are class uni cities so wherever you go you'll have a good time. I wish I was starting uni again.

Never understood the point in lectures, in particular, considering all the material for it is released on the University student area thing and that lecturers just read from the PowerPoint slides.

Depends what subject you're doing. If you're doing a wishy washy degree then I agree.

I don't know, I think attendance relates to results. I've not missed anything this academic year and my average grade is 76% across three units. A few lads I know don't come in because my Uni post 'everything you need' on YouTube and blackboard and they're getting 2:1s. If you want to get by I agree, but it doesn't hurt attending everything purely for the routine and effort you have to adhere to.

A housemate of mine at uni never bloody went in for lectures and thought scrolling through some slides was the best course of action because "it's all on there", ended up with a third. A ****ing third! Might as well have not bothered.

I never went Uni but I would have thought one of the good things about going to a lecture is that you may be able to ask questions after. Just in case you dozed after a night out the day before.

I dunno what it was about lectures but they'd always make me doze of a bit. I could lay in bed all night and not be able to get to sleep, but put me in a warm lecture room for an hour with the lecturer talking on and on and that would do the trick.

I preferred emailing the lecturer if I had a question or needed advice, in case mass amounts of students came to him for help after the lectures and also the lecturer could reply in his/her own time.

University of Leicester is one of the better ones in the country. Also Nottingham uni (Not trent) is very well regarded.

I went to Dundee, I miss Leicester and going to matches every week but I made the right decision as the uni is fantastic for what im doing and a great city.

tricky one mate

10 years ago you'd be wondering whether to go out and get ratted with ya pals or go watch gaz macauley knock it long to ian hume.

now you're wondering whether to spend a ****ing fortune in some shithole club or watch mahrez take on the world and slap it in top bin.

it's all perspective, you've gotta do what you wanna do.

You could just get a season ticket holder to purchase you a ticket for a game when you know for sure you're coming back. Then jump on a national express....it usually costs me £8/10 return from sheffield to St.Margarets as long as i book a few days before, and only takes an hour longer than a train for less than a quarter of the cost.

As for the whole 'you need to be at uni during the week-end', its a load of rubbish pal. Most nights out are in the week as its cheaper and every club has their own night for discounts etc 80p mixers etc.

I come back leicester most week-ends, as for £8 I can return home for a week-end all you can eat buffet and go town/ashby etc with my pals from home on a friday and saturday night.

You have to select the uni that is best for you as a person. It isn't the be all and end all in the slightest. I've got mates who in the 3 years i've been doing my degree holding down a job which is of a better standing than one i can enter after i graduate even with a first.
