DJ Barry Hammond Posted 9 May 2016 Posted 9 May 2016 Dyche is a lot of things, but he's no Eddie Howe. Don't know if it's a problem with Burnley's scouting set up, or just SD being a little reserved but, unless things have changed dramatically,I can't see him signing the players necessary to keep Burnley up ! That's an unfair comment really. Dyche has made some exceptional signings to get Burnley into challenging at the top end of the Championship - it should be recognised Eddie Howe was at Burnley prior to Dyche as well!
Haydos Posted 9 May 2016 Posted 9 May 2016 If Newcastle stay up, then I can see all 3 promoted teams going straight back down. This gets said every season, it rarely happens.
MPH Posted 9 May 2016 Posted 9 May 2016 Leaving Dyche and Barton to one side for a minute.... Objectively, personally, i think its great to see Burnley back. Not only does it stick two fingers up at the so called Bigger teams in that division, it also vindicates their decision to not pull all the eggs in one basket first time around as they didn't put themselves in a positions to do some dell boy style selling to balance the books. It actually turned out to be quite a wise move as, like you said, you're back and with no debt hanging round your neck which is causing you to spend like a crazy desperately trying to stay in the division to pay off the first accrued debt and create a perpetual problem. Its similar to what West Brom did quite a few years ago - they had a few uppy downy seasons but they have now hung around for a few years and that should be Burnleys aim.
Stadt Posted 9 May 2016 Posted 9 May 2016 Still find it funny that Dyche said Burnley had been tracking Gray form his Hinckley Town days when they could have bought him for about £100k but no they wait until he's at Brentford to spunk £8m on him
burnleyfan Posted 9 May 2016 Author Posted 9 May 2016 Apparently Barton didn't get a medal That was the clubs fault apparently. Some players who shouldn't have got one did by mistake!
jammie82uk Posted 9 May 2016 Posted 9 May 2016 That was the clubs fault apparently. Some players who shouldn't have got one did by mistake! Really? That's not what your club has said, seems someone at the club can't count as the football league said 25 medals would be available and the club put 27 players forward for them
ScouseFox Posted 9 May 2016 Posted 9 May 2016 probably couldn't afford any more medals. poor burnley.
Richard Posted 9 May 2016 Posted 9 May 2016 I know it all worked out well in the end, but I'd be pretty pissed off if I were a Burnley fan when they made £30m profit yet made such a feeble attempt at staying up in 14/15. I hope they make a better fist of it this time and sign some real quality - which seems like Dyche has learnt to do in Gray and Keane
Stadt Posted 9 May 2016 Posted 9 May 2016 probably couldn't afford any more medals. poor burnley. took them cash converters and used the money to upgrade his 56 plate mondeo to an 08 volkswagen passat
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 10 May 2016 Posted 10 May 2016 I actually reckon Burnley might stay up next season in the PL. I know it's a very early call but the overall foundations of Burnley seem to be very good. Dyche has done excellently, he's got a team who work hard but have the quality to back this up. They look a well organised side too. As long as Burnley keep their best players (Gray a prime example) and also invest well in the summer, they'll do alright I feel.
ScouseFox Posted 10 May 2016 Posted 10 May 2016 i also, annoyingly, think they might stick around longer than 8 months this time too. there is an unbelievable amount of dross outside the top 8 (there's some in it ffs) in this league. even with villa, norwich and one of the north east clubs on the way there's still a lot there to be shot at. as watford have shown this season, one half decent run of form and one half decent striker on fire for 6 games and you're safe. literally. sunderland (or newcastle), watford, palace, swansea, west brom, the other two promoted clubs. if i was a burnley fan i'd see no reason why "we" couldn't finish above pretty much all of them, let alone just three.
fuchsntf Posted 10 May 2016 Posted 10 May 2016 Andre Gray...in talks with PL champions..Sean Dyche quoted has saying they need the money. Unlike some on this forum , I like Burnley, majority of their fans, and Sean Dyche just a great character. Really want to see Burnley and Mborough stay up. Both need to find that ever elusive goalscorer who can build small runs, and stay injury free. Watford, started well but suddenly lost their form, Norwich +Bournemouth had some great early form, then got injuries especially Bournemouth.Norwich promise died, their strikers, looked good in early season, then missed too many sitters. The season before, was the story of Leicesters great Escape, Austin from QPR missed too many games, Ing and Vogts for Burnley, were missed for simular reasons. With the foxes, Saints, hammers, Spurs, I would love to see the new generation of teams, change the scenery in the PL.
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 10 May 2016 Posted 10 May 2016 I'd love to see Gray here, looks class. But, I came to the conclusion myself that he will stay at Burnley given they've just got promoted.

Th one thing Gray needs to improve, is his first touch, which can be very poor at times. But the one redeeming feature is that as he's so fast he'll get to the ball before any defender, even if he's miss controlled it. Btw, imagine if we are both paired up in the first game of the season. What a scalp for Dyche!
Soar Fox Posted 10 May 2016 Posted 10 May 2016 Btw, imagine if we are both paired up in the first game of the season. What a scalp for Dyche! You haven't beat us in since August 2010, I can't see that changing next season.

Well, when a player has class, they make up for any possible weaknesses they have through their own better assets. In the Premier League, he's going to be surrounded by more and more quality players, so his game might come on anyway, especially if Burnley recruit well.
