burnleyfan Posted 4 May 2016 Posted 4 May 2016 You'll be able to enjoy Mr Dyche on a regular basis! Congratulations btw
Webbo Posted 4 May 2016 Posted 4 May 2016 No offence but our rivals are a couple of notches higher now.
burnleyfan Posted 4 May 2016 Author Posted 4 May 2016 No offence but our rivals are a couple of notches higher now. Ah well. Our nearest and Dearest rivals said the same thing when they won the PL in 1995. We can't but help smile at their current plight!
Richard Posted 4 May 2016 Posted 4 May 2016 Welcome back! I hope you make a better go of staying up this time around, last time you were almost resigned to going straight back down. Not a bad spine of a team, now just need some creativity in there - if you try and defend your way to safety you'll be in for a tough season
Fox92 Posted 4 May 2016 Posted 4 May 2016 Congrats to you too. Dyche did a wonderful job given everybody said he wouldn't be able to do it again, as well as losing Shackell and Ings. I'm interested to see how Gray will perform at top flight level.
ousefox Posted 4 May 2016 Posted 4 May 2016 Bet Shackell feels a bit of a knob for leaving. Someone who used to play with him told me he was an arrogant arsehole.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 4 May 2016 Posted 4 May 2016 Well done and all and I truly hope things go better for you this time. Funny, the last time Burnley were here we were almost on the same level, well now... we have hit the stratosphere just unbelievable to think that.
Moksky Posted 4 May 2016 Posted 4 May 2016 You'll be able to enjoy Mr Dyche on a regular basis! Congratulations btw For fox sake , haven't any of your lot bought him some throat lozenges, painful to listen to him Well done and good luck next season
Finnegan Posted 4 May 2016 Posted 4 May 2016 Is he still going on about pound notes despite your outlay this season and the fact we won the premier league with a relatively miniscule budget? If he's changed the record and learned to stop deflecting for his own shortcomings then I'd have no issue with Dyche at all. Used to really like Burnley before his general moaning and a handful of your fans making out that Vardy somehow dived his way to our promotion and then survival. I mean come on. One of the best home crowds I went to last year btw for atmosphere.

Guest Sharpe's Fox Posted 4 May 2016 Posted 4 May 2016 Dreading the day when the mighty David Jones pockets Premier League winner and England international Danny Drinkwater.
burnleyfan Posted 4 May 2016 Author Posted 4 May 2016 Dreading the day when the mighty David Jones pockets Premier League winner and England international Danny Drinkwater. More likely when Joey get's let lose on him. He may be 33 but he's still a very good footballer! Or alternatively, will be interesting to see how Andre copes with your defence if it's played over the top to him!
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 4 May 2016 Posted 4 May 2016 You'll be able to enjoy Mr Dyche on a regular basis! Congratulations btw 5000-1 outsiders on some betting sites I believe? Might be worth a stray £10 given recent history! I'll reserve my congratulations until your final game given the division title has yet to be decided. Would you say your sides better equipped this time around? Got a better base to start from?
Harry - LCFC Posted 4 May 2016 Posted 4 May 2016 Although Dyche's comments felt a bit unnecessary at times I do respect how he's gone about things with Burnley. Welcome back.
burnleyfan Posted 4 May 2016 Author Posted 4 May 2016 Although Dyche's comments felt a bit unnecessary at times I do respect how he's gone about things with Burnley. Welcome back. I think Dyche and his comments were just sparring with Nigel Pearson. And to be fair, Nigel Pearson seems to have fallen out with most managers. btw, Dyche is very good friends with Simon Grayson.
Strokes Posted 4 May 2016 Posted 4 May 2016 Well done burnley, I'm pleased they are back in the prem. Good manager and decent fans, to replace that shower of shite Villa. Hopefully we can purge the league of Sunderland too, they need a long spell in the mire IMO.

Far better as we have more depth this time. We signed James Tarkovski for £3 million and he can't get in the team at the moment.

Would it be fair to say the time before, promotion was never expected - a squad was built to compete for maybe a playoff place at best, where as this time round Dyche was building a squad aimed for promotion and an eye to surviving in the Premier League?

That's true. We realise it's still not strong enough, but then again who would have thought Danny Simpson would be good enough at right back for you guys?
ScouseFox Posted 4 May 2016 Posted 4 May 2016 i will gladly accept burnley being back, good away day. however if you are coming back to the forum can you please find blackburnclaret and bring him back too. scott arfield over riyad mahrez, he said. he actually said that.

In fairness, like most of your players, I bet you would have sold Mahrez if the right offer had come in a couple of seasons ago. Didn't Pearson try to offload Vardy?
ScouseFox Posted 4 May 2016 Posted 4 May 2016 In fairness, like most of your players, I bet you would have sold Mahrez if the right offer had come in a couple of seasons ago. Didn't Pearson try to offload Vardy? nah that was all made up i think. vardy is an odd one, he was really quite rubbish for a bit and fans got quite pissed off with him because we as a team were awful. mahrez on the other hand has been obviously absolutely sensational since he first stepped on the pitch for us. he was always going to be a star. admittedly not many would've thought 2 years after joining he'd be PFA player of the year, but he was clearly going to be good enough to play champions league football and that was obvious even when we were in the championship.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 4 May 2016 Posted 4 May 2016 That's true. We realise it's still not strong enough, but then again who would have thought Danny Simpson would be good enough at right back for you guys? Fans get too obsessed with comparing individual players of the same position, rather than looking at their functionality in a team structure. You can sign two centrebacks for £30 million a piece who are individually talented, but if they don't work well together that suddenly looks money poorly spent. I wouldn't be suprised if you did ok next season. I've not really got much to base this on given I don't regularly watch Burnley (unsurprisingly!), but just the fact that your manager has been able to regroup and obtain promotion straight away shows the right mentality is there. Of course down side of you guys coming up is you've been traditionally one of our boggy teams. It was your sides bloody 2-2 at our place that started the Great Depression!
KFS Posted 4 May 2016 Posted 4 May 2016 I can tell this one is going to be a handful when we win 1-0 at Turf Moor after a dodgy penalty decision is given next season...
