norwichfox Posted 3 August 2016 Posted 3 August 2016 He maybe is thinking it rains money at Leicester given some of the players' deals being bandied around, probably doesn't realise he is no longer capable of putting a full shift in like the majority of the current players.

Spurs are only paying Eriksen and lamala around 40K Kanes new Contract reported to be 70k. So we're right up there. Personally I'm not in favour of big salaries, I much prefer incentive's for performances on top of a decent basic salary. With top ups for. Wins, league position, Goals scored, Clean sheets. That way players put a real shift in and slackers will be pulled up by the others as they'll be costing them money. To some extent the remarkable success of our team and the determination to keep our "star" players has created its own problems. Others have also contributed as effectively in a less headlined way and, quite rightly, think they're entitled to a slice of the rewards. Just for illustration compare Mahrez's moody, almost anonymous footballing contribution in pre-season tour with Drinkwater's fiesty efforts yesterday. On that showing you'd rather be paying Drinky the premium wages...and doubtless he'd think so too. Like you, I'd rather we majored on incentives but idealism's not easy in a football environment (is it ever?) and I guess every decision is based on the manager's view of what's most important in the circumstances. Risky business though when you're talking such big figures but maybe the club's attitude is that it's the only way we can sustain our progress and new-found status...and they may well be right. And watching pre-season, particularly yesterday, I do feel we've made some decent investments to balance the increase in wages. What matters now is the level of return. Exciting times whatever.

ARM1968 Posted 4 August 2016 Posted 4 August 2016 Few other CL teams would offer him a role. Personally I think no as he's a bellend.
