Team for League Cup

Presuming everyone stays and Claudio sticks with the starting 11 that won us the title and any new players have to work their way in we could have a starting 11 looks like this for our first cup tie:

GK: Ziegler

LB: Chillwell

RB: Ammartey

CB: Hernandez

CB: Was or Keane

LW: Schlupp

RW: Gray

CM: King

CM: Mendy

SS: Ulloa

CF: Musa

What a fantastically well balanced side that is. With out sounding arrogant I think that's a lower mid table prem side and would give most fist 11's a decent game.

With being in Europe we go straight into the the 3rd round meaning we are only 3 wins away from a two legged semi final where you would probably play your first team. This is the best chance of a domestic cup in years

You can get 33/1 with some bookies and have just put a 10er on.

That's probably the team I'd choose, or what I'd expect. It does depend of course, on whether the current XI play every Premier League match like last season, or whether the new players come in and they are utilized more. With the quality we've got, and with the quality we're bringing in, our team for League Cup games has the potential to be very good, particularly if players like Zieler, Musa, Wasyl, Ulloa and King feature in these sorts of matches.

I'd love us to win the League Cup again or any kind of silverware next season. We're historically great in the League Cup - 3 trophies and 1 final. Hopefully we can add to that. FA Cup would be superb.

Pointless thread until squad is finalised. And we don't have a player called Ziegler.

Ah, forgive me, so we have 3 domestic competitions this season?

Well correct but I can't see us taking the JPT in the least bit seriously. it'll be kids and players struggling to even get bench time.

Me either, i didn't realise it was the old JPT, seems a strange thing to do, you are doing the L1 and L2 clubs out of the chance to play in a final at Wembley. Man City's kids for example could walk this potentially.

Don't agree mate. Men vs Boys. League One and Two aint as bad as you think and City are probably going to play an entire team of teenagers.

I just want to see us wheel out Gokan Inler at the Bescott or something ridiculous lol

Yeah maybe, I remember some teams playing some decent football in our L1 season, I guess the men v boys will level it out a bit as well, just can't see it staying this format if City, Chelsea, Utd etc make the semi's year in year out, I reckon they will change it again within 2 seasons. Unless the top clubs prove or feel, that the lads getting competitive games has been good for them.

I would expect Mendy and Musa to be first team from the off.

CR has already said he wants Mendy and Kante playing together.

What happens to the savoir of English football then?

Will be an interesting season, think your gonna a see another 2 or 3 signings and a lot more "tinkering" than last season, sadly its going to be needed I suppose we are technically competing in six competitions this season, albeit one of them is only one game.

Whoever Ranieri choses to select, and his off field tactics, for each competition, the opposition

will be out for our scalps, and the stories for their grankids.

League cup team, will be a mix like last season I suppose.

I still expect to see a couple of yougsters, with squad players who may have missed the

the 1st few games playing squad.

There is also those old campaigners.'Mr Wrong time mr wrong place'

Suspension, and injuries will kick off our season, so hold back on any

Selection permatations before getting excited..

HUTH is the first casualty..
