Or is it just you being your usual upbeat self London Evening Standard - he intimates that Kante had led him to believe he would stay at the end of the season but that maybe they took him at his word... Naive or not I think he is taking a bit of it on his own chin....maybe ease the pressure on the new boys such as Amartey or Mendy who will be tasked with filling N'Golo's boots..... Give it 6 weeks and I think we may have moved on but the next 2 to 3 games may prove challenging!!
ScouseFox Posted 19 August 2016 Posted 19 August 2016 what a pointless comment. for a start i doubt we let him go, he wanted to leave.
MPH Posted 19 August 2016 Posted 19 August 2016 i think Ranieri needs to stop talking about transfers. Thats not going to make mendy or Amartey feel any better knowing that it is a mistake that is getting them game time...

Agreed, sometimes I wonder what it is Ranieri is doing when he makes comments like this - if he has ofcourse. He's not exactly the most private of managers like Pearson was, I think NFP was excellent at deflecting criticism and removing pressure from the lads. Ranieri's 40 pts target etc and 6000/1 comments are great, it's these 'we were wrong' things that mess up.

RastaDog Posted 19 August 2016 Posted 19 August 2016 CR's humour/use of English. I think "mistake" in this context means something he would have liked to have been able to prevent rather than something he did wrong. As I understand it, there was nothing he nor the club could have done about it. We move on. Kante is forgotten.
Stevosevic Posted 19 August 2016 Posted 19 August 2016 The quote is actually he made a mistake thinking Kante wanted to stay.

Yup this is from his prematch press conference http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/leicester-citys-claudio-ranieri-rues-mistake-in-letting-ngolo-kante-join-chelsea-a3325051.html "I thought everybody wanted to stay with Leicester and continue to fight. But I made a mistake. One did want to go — Kante is finished with us and he has gone."
