fuchsntf Posted 22 August 2016 Posted 22 August 2016 I am just throwing this out... Will /should Ranieri kick into the season, to get his tried and trusted into a rythm and consistency, or should he stick his neck out ( no attack on Ranieri), and start to tinker and rotate as early as possible. We will see more knocks, injuries and probably more cards this season. Does he wait for the inevitable, or does he get his squad seeing more game time, to set up a strong BBone of 14-15+ 1st choice regulars. That by end of November, we wont be, on this forum panicking and drilling ourselves into the ground ,over on form players replacements if needed. One of the great games last season for me was the home Swansea game, replacements /subs were involved in all the goals, but they had all seen game time through the season, should we think/use this idea earlier, because we need and want to go that extra step further, and have more players ready and available to hit the ground running. I want us to be greedy and go for all competitions, especially the CL and the PL again.I want us to have all the player rescources available at the highest skill and mentallity level as possible. Schlupp, Armatey, Chilwell, Hernandez, for me should see quality game time. Just something else the Tinkerman-hype is a myth, all managers have swapped and changed regularly especially title winners.London media wanted to create an iconic headline and it stuck. I wont get grumpy or critical, if Claudio uses less players, it bloody worked last season why complain... but I feel the last few years its become more of a squad game, for all PL teams. Morgan dont forget has played through winter and summer for 3 seasons now...
foxy boxing Posted 22 August 2016 Posted 22 August 2016 for certain games he should rest players or bring others in depending on what game it is and who the opposition is.he will most likely rest a lot in the league cup and rest a few for the f.a cup. players he has brought in need opportunities to shine and to see what they can deliver and add to the team
Nick Posted 22 August 2016 Posted 22 August 2016 The players need to be match fit for starters because we're not there yet for sure and they also need to be far sharper in their finishing, crossing and decision making. Then we'll see if there's things to tinker with.
RastaDog Posted 22 August 2016 Posted 22 August 2016 Agreed ^^^^^ I think we need to establish a level of fitness and consistency before we even think about rotating. I'm not actually a fan of player rotation for rotation's sake. Rest players, sure, but if they're playing well then let them continue.
foxes21 Posted 22 August 2016 Posted 22 August 2016 Rotation will be inevitable this year. Wouldn't surprise me to see 9/10 changes for the PL games after each CL game.
AKCJ Posted 22 August 2016 Posted 22 August 2016 It pisses me off that Ranieri will inevitably earn the "Tinkerman" title (always found it cringeworthy) again. Mainly because it'll be used as a stick to beat him with if we have a poor result.
Gazza M Posted 22 August 2016 Posted 22 August 2016 At the moment we are finding our feet and I still feel Claudio doesn't know his best side fully yet. It took until October last year to get that sorted when Kante came in and started central (made sub appearances in a wide position.) I think we need to pick best players until we get that first win.
cc_star Posted 23 August 2016 Posted 23 August 2016 I'd like to see some tinkering sooner rather than later. Musa starting instead of Vardy for eg
zealot Posted 23 August 2016 Posted 23 August 2016 No need to tinker. Stick to all of the successful on-field partnerships that won us the championship. Simpson-Morgan-Huth-Fuchs get clean sheets and they got another one last weekend. In fact, 0-0 against Arsenal showed significant progress after losing 5-2 and drawing 1-1 in previous fixtures last season. Give nothing away defensively and eventually Vardy-Musa-Mahrez-Ulloa-Okazaki will come good at the other end in a few games and we'll start to pick up wins.
Captain... Posted 23 August 2016 Posted 23 August 2016 We can rotate and keep our shape, but that means Vardy or Musa, not Vardy and Musa, Gray or Mahrez, not both of them. In the Kante role it should be Amartey or Mendy, King played very well last season when DD was suspended, but doesn't play as well with him. Kaputska I would have in the Albrighton or Okazaki role. Or we need a plan B 433, 4231, 352/532

Musa is best at taking the ball into the spaces at pace so one of the other 2 should cut back. or with less possession Okazaki overlaps Vardy to chase down the play. 1 Jamie Vardy. That should rotate and keep shape even with 3 substitutions per game.
