During the points they covered about another 9 in between points!! It's not directly match for match comparative anyway is it. If you're at a Masters tournament you play about 5/6 gaemes in 7 Days most you'll do in football is two. They are both different and pretty incomparable two totally different types of sport that require two different types of fitness, but I wont have anyone making out tennis is "easier"

steflcfc Posted 7 November 2016 Posted 7 November 2016 It's an excuse for the manager to give the players a reason to hide behind some very poor performances this season. Im hoping behind the scenes Ranieri must be Livid with some of the performances the players are seeming to put in. If some players are "tired" they must have came back from the summer/pre season in awful shape. They are top athletes with all the professional help and guidance to cope (apart from injury) with the demands of professional football. There is no reason they shouldn't be able to play 2 games in a week.
Donut Posted 7 November 2016 Posted 7 November 2016 These comparisons are stupid. How can you compare football to tennis for fitness? Look at Wimbledon for example, playing 5 set matches in summer heat day after day. The match is going to go at least three sets, and then come back and do it again tomorrow. How is that relevant to football? football encompasses walking, jogging, sprinting, standing still, but its also a team sport rather than an individual one too In football you obviously dont spend every day at training doing high intensity stamina work between matches either. There are rest periods, recovery periods, you think they get off the plane from a champions league game in say, Turkey or somewhere miles away at 3am and then start sprinting around everywhere in training the day after? come on. We probably are tired only in the fact some areas of the squad have no options, leading to players playing over and over each game. But we are not struggling due to tiredness.

lgfualol Posted 7 November 2016 Posted 7 November 2016 If we are tired from 2 games a week then we should be using more than 1 sub in a mid-week champions league game for the players that are struggling.

Andy Murray has just become world no 1.. winning FOUR tournaments in FOUR WEEK'S.. playing 4 or 5 matches per week, on court for an average of TWO HOURS PER MATCH!... How can you compare that physical output to a pampered, overpaid footballer! You can't compare the two. Murray's wins don't mean he is fitter than footballers. Murray has not beaten a top 10 player in those tournaments by the way. Also the money issue shouldn't really come into it. Whether you earn 40k a week or a million a week, it doesn't mean that you can't be tired at times!

Its to illustrate the point that comparing the two sports is pointless.

There are obviously a lot of people on here who haven't played tennis!. .. I would love to see any pro footballer playing 5 hours + in 100 degree heat in a grand slam tournament and then asked to do the same the next day! !...

The same as everyone else in this thread. I reckon I'd feel knackered after a weeks worth of professional football than I would after a weeks worth of professional tennis. But in the end, this thread has a "my dads bigger than yours" feel to it.

Obviously not but I have played both at a competitive level which is more than a lot of people in here will have done.

Not really when Murray played him he was guaranteed to be 10th whether he won or lost. And he is ranked 10th now, don't remember you specifying whether you meant current top 10 or top 10 at the time (even though he was for all intent and purposes top 10)

Lets all bow down to Manwell's superior knowledge because he plays tennis on a Tuesday night and 5 a side on Fridays.
