He is a likeable guy that happens to be English which will one day get him the England Job. I dont think any of the top 5 clubs would go for him if they sacked their managers. Does anyone do well in the premiership club on a shoe string though? Its a pretty incredible rise, keeps them in league 2 despite a -17 deficit, despite spending nothing he then gets them promoted to league 1, then into the championship and to the premiership. I think Howe is another case of 'build you up to knock you down'. He's done an amazing job.

Who was the last manager to actually get promoted on really limited resources? Holloway at Blackpool? Howe has done brilliantly and I hope he goes on to have a good career. Maybe then we'll finally see a good England manager.
Captain... Posted 19 December 2016 Posted 19 December 2016 He's done a great job at Bournemouth, but he has built that club up from the lower leagues. He will most likely get a chance at Spurs or Everton, a second tier club, and not be an instant success get sacked and never work in the premier league again. It is amazing how some foreign managers can get job after job despite numerous failures on their CV, but if you are English you tend to get one chance and if you blow it, or even if you don't, then you are banished to the lower leagues. Pearson, Adkins, Hughton*, Mcdermott, Monk all had some success in the Premier League but are now considered to be Championship at best. Dyche will go the same way *I know he is considered Irish

Blimey. What he's done for that club is a fairytale. Saved them from dropping out of the Football League (despite a 17 point deduction) and almost certain LIQUIDATION.... got them promoted from League Two, League One and the Championship and kept them in the Premier League. All this since 2008-09. Outstanding manager and a lovely fella too.

My only question is if he's capable of managing the massive egos of the top players. I wonder if they'd respect him due to his age and the fact he never made it to the top himself as a player? I've never really seen him 'lose it' so I wonder if he's capable of being tough and demanding enough to keep a bunch of multi millionaire prima donnas in line? I can see the likes of Zlatan and co not having much respect for him so that's the only thing that could hold him back. Can't argue with what he's achieved to date though. Outstanding achievement..
AjcW Posted 20 December 2016 Posted 20 December 2016 I really like his managerial style, style of play etc.... but there's a couple of things, with history to back up, that leave me not convinced just yet. He's in his comfort zone at Bournemouth, everyone loves him and he's a hero. He left once, failed miserably and went back. There's been a few cases of that in the past, Martinez & Rodgers at Swansea.... Ferguson at Peterborough until recently. He will eventually need to take another risk and take another job, and I think given the hype that job will be Arsenal... but it's a hell of a jump and he could quite quickly be found out leaving his comfort zone again! On a side note I really resent the amount of stick he gets for being well spoken and well mannered, because it doesn't "Fit" within football... i'm sure he's equally as capable at losing his shit and holding his own when he needs to, judging someone on an upbringing they were born in to just seems ridiculous.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 20 December 2016 Posted 20 December 2016 How anybody can call Eddie Howe anything when we've got Mark Hughes in the division I've no idea. The worst loser in management.

I see where you're coming from and somewhat agree but it's a bit of a fine line.... Look at top managers like Mourinho and Wenger who never did much as players but seem to have that stern attitude when needed. Plenty of top players made great managers and plenty of top players failed as managers.
