Peter Shilton’s Missus and the song thereof.

Edit - I know it’s nothing to do with this fixture, but it always brings a smile...

I did a load of Legend threads back in the day and Worthington was one of them.

Very good indeed.Love the mention of Wool and Stringy -its a long time ago and the younger lads on here would have loved it given the chance.

I know its a well used phrase but they do not make em like that any more Liverpool refused him because of his blood/alcohol count.or the other way round)

I hope he is Ok now plus the others of the time of course.

But you didn’t always know who was going to turn up on match day. Went to Stoke away and Franks kit was as clean when he went in at half time as it was when he came out before kick off, he’d spent most of the first half just standing on the halfway line. Mind you when he did turn up it was magic.

The most naturally talented Englishman to ever play the game.

If he'd been born Italian he'd have had a hundred caps.

He was my all time faveourate city player. Worth the admission alone when he was up for it.

Played better when when he had been drunk night before.

Him Glover and Weller. What players and why would they be worth today

At today's prices you'd be talking 60 - 70 million for Weller at his peak, easily.

As a left footer, Glover would be commanding an inflated fee of maybe 50 million?

Frank, I simply wouldn't sell.

He was a very gifted player ... but the best ever ??

Frankie Wortho V Lineker V Collymore

All great strikers ... not sure who I'd say was the best.

Frank probably the most gifted, Stan not far behind and Gary the least gifted but the most prolific.

I have to agree with you. Weller was a phenomenal player.  Mahrez is the most skilful player I’ve seen but Weller did it for 90 minutes every game. Glover had a wand of a left foot and Wortho what can you say about him. Unplayable on his day

The title winners are legends, but Bloomfield's side was the most entertaining City team in my lifetime.

Yes they were. Bloomfield was a manager ahead of his time. I do think central midfield let us down even with the Birch and Sammels they weren’t as good as those around them and bob Lee was average. I think we were 3-4 players from challenging for the title in my opinion
